New Realms - but no fix?

Great. New realms will relieve the congestion for new players to a great extent.

But what about the rest of us who have fought the 1017 errors since B4 & have worked to progress?

We've got established toons on one realm. But our spouses, friends and guildies have a mix of characters on other realms where they rolled because it was less congested.

So... 9/3 rolls around, with shiny new servers, and then what?

Are we expected to re-roll there? Are we expected to continue to fight the 1017's on the congested realms to play our mains, while the new servers attract alts and new players?

Or do we just wait till server transfers become available, when we're given the option to PAY for a server transfer?

That's just adding insult to injury.

SOLUTION:

Force server splits - and offer a free transfer or two to every player to redistribute the load and balance the servers at a lower population across the board - allowing for future growth as friends and family join up.

For the love of all that is humane and sane, learn to READ.

No... we've read all that. Time and again. Nothing in any of the SE statements actually answers my questions.

A realm/server/world at capacity is not going to be 'fixed' by the addition of another realm/server/world in the same data center.

Adding capacity for more players to create new toons on new realms doesn't change the fact that my friend and family are already scattered because of full realms, and character creation limits, or address the problems with limited login capability because the realms already sustaining it's maximum stable concurrent players.

Maybe you, sir, are the one with a need to learn to read?

capacity of our data centers

Increasing the capacity of their data center, and adding new worlds doesn't increase the capacity of the worlds already running. They've stated that at 5k concurrent logins, worlds can become unstable. We've seen this problem, repeatedly. While it gets slightly better as people spread out beyond the towns and starter zones - with their current tech and server structure, this is not likely to be able to be increased.

To gain more concurrent login's in a single world, they'd likely need to redesign the worlds to encompass phased or instanced zones, and utilize a network of virtual servers and load sharing. It doesn't appear that they are doing this, outside of the duty finder system.

There is still the server trasnsfer service, coming mid september

Yeah, I covered that above. Expecting us to pay for a server transfer to fix the problems that are the result of their failure to handle capacity at launch is adding insult to injury.

The addition of new Worlds, as well as the adjustments to the duty finder servers, will be complete as of tomorrow. We will then enter our final internal testing phase of these features in preparation. If the results from these tests are favorable, we will conduct an extended all-World maintenance on Wednesday (Japan time). Once the new Worlds are implemented and the duty finder server load has been redistributed over smaller World server groups, we believe that many of the login issues that players are currently experiencing will clear.

Doesn't say anything about expanding server capacity.

Only new worlds and making the duty finder a smaller player pool.

[Follow-up] Regarding Preparations to Increase the Capacity of our Data Centers (Aug. 27)
Thank you very much for playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

We would like to make a clarification regarding our previous announcement “Regarding Congestion in Japan Data Center Worlds (Aug. 27)” in which we stated that we are preparing to increase the capacity of our data centers.

The first half of the announcement regarding login and character creation restrictions was directed towards our players who would be playing during peak hours in Japan data center Worlds.

However, the second half of the announcement regarding increasing the capacity of our data centers was meant to also encompass North American and European data center Worlds and not just be limited to Japan data center Worlds.

We deeply apologise for causing concern amongst the North American and European community due to our lack of clarity. Capacity will be increased for data centers in all regions.

Once again, thank you for your understanding and cooperation to help us welcome more players to the game.

They said nothing about changing the server capacity. The changes that are happening is just new worlds, which only benifit new players and sales. You should read the post before assuming other people did not.

It's probably going to do nothing to help existing players. I am already in the process of calling my bank or calling Gamestop to get a refund. I will be nice and give the game until Weds. If none of the issues are dealt with, I will get a refund, tell everyone not to buy this game, and swear to never buy a game or product from Square Enix again.

There is no mention of server capacity increase, This maintenance will accomplish nothing but allow players to play on new servers witch will fill with alts and new players and end up with the same problem as all the rest, The main problem they have is they made the stupid mistake at launch of making a character count double that of the server count be for launch, This is a beginners mistake with mmo's its something you introduce later when servers die down not when you first start and everyone wants to play,
