Cannot disable my gamepad...

So EVERY time I try to check the box to disable my game pad..the green box never goes away. It is forcing itself to remain enabled even if I unplug it. Any ideas or does anyone know where the text config file is? This is becoming idiotic, Square....

What do you mean disable? If you mean switch to keyboard and mouse theres a switch when you go to the Character Config part of the options.
If not that maybe a bit more clarification on exactly what is happening.

I mean that I am at the start screen and want to turn my gamepad off so I can use JUST the keyboard and mouse. But every time I try to uncheck the box that enabled the gamepad it doesn't let me; it just remains checked no matter what. I appreciate the reply, does mine help at all to clarify?

Are you on PC? Why don't you just unplug it?! Or PS3?

I haven't been able to login in awhile so i dont remember exactly, but under the Character configuration thing in configurations on the title there is a little switch thing that has a gamepad and a mouse on it, click on that to switch to your mouse and then unplug your gamepad maybe? Im not really sure exactly what you mean still.

You probably have to switch the interface to Keyboard/Mouse (in Character Config) before it will let you disable the gamepad. If that doesn't work, then I have no idea.

I already stated that unplugging it doesn't work either. But thanks for the suggestion all the same....

Thank you lot, it seems from what you are saying I actually need to be signed in to a character to change it. That is horrible but it makes sense why it isn't working from the start screen. I appreciate all of your replies.

Why you want to get rid of the game pad? I was thinking about using it myself so I'm curios.
