What it boils down to is what does SE value. Players aren't dumb and we don't forget these things. How they handle this will affect their entire business model right to the end.
Yes it's a Final Fantasy title, but the running joke : Wouldn't "Final" Fantasy have ended with the first one?

It's very fair to say that players are owed additional value points to make up for this failed "official" release. I feel bad for even people who want to download digital copies and aren't able to because of suspended downloads. There is absolutely no excuse they can make that will compensate players for the trouble they are having trying to get online.

It's 8:30am here, I thought for sure if I woke up early I would get on to the NA servers. I get 1017 before I even see my character screen, and 2002 before I get to click start.
They did announce that the big maintenance to deal with this is tomorrow, and thats great, but It's been a week and I've managed to get my Legacy character from level 18 to 19, earn 3000 Gil, and create 2 macros. For all my time and effort trying to log in, I've done less in one week than most people would do in an hour. Simply because of AFK'ers.

I think extended the free period for a week is a no brainer. Also I completely agree that players deserve additional compensation for the headache they have experienced from this.

I was even shocked to see that when I logged in, my 24 conjurer was 18 and I had gear I was unable to wear that I was clearly wearing before. So on top of modifying my character based on the new item/class/job systems I can't even log in to catch up to my FC who are all early access people and 50/50/50/50/50/50/50s.
I hope for the sake of this games future that they handle the results of this last week delicately.
