This didn't create the clique like mentality that didn't already exist (Guild/linkshell for example), especially considering you have to repeat said tiers in order to fight Odin again.

This is why I'm weary about Yoshida mentioning dungeons being like the western MMO style.
Yeah, I loved the way FFXI did stuff. I really really really really REALLY REALLY hope we don't get this stupid western style MMO dungeon system of "NORMAL - > HEROIC - > HEROIC TIER2 - > RAID" or something just as stupid, where every new raid is a new tier of gear making the other tier useless. I also REALLY hope they don't do the WOW thing where "5 man heroics now give old tier gear teehee!" when they introduce a new raid, THAT WAS HORRIBLE omg X_X

I preferred FFXI's end game structure, like 8+ events(dungeons) you could do, all with overlapping gear, so you had to do them ALL to get gear, and none of the gear really replaced gear from previous events(dungeons). No tiers, just lots of dungeons with good gear. Loved having to do all the content, and loved having lots of things to do.
