Easiest way i've found to find out if server is full/at cap

Since there doesn't seem to be a way to check which servers are full outside of doing this or spamming login attempts (from what I can tell), what I do to check the server's capacity status is go through the steps to making a new character, and then when I get to the part where I select the server I just leave that up and hit the refresh button on that (after each refresh you have to wait a few minutes before you can refresh it again). The ones listed in white are the ones that aren't currently at cap and have the highest chance of being able to be logged into, if your server ends up in white, quickly hit the x in the the bottom left corner and try to log into your character. I got onto other servers that way, just not the one my friends play on (yet).
