    Diablo 3 isn't an MMO. The architecture behind D3 and the number of servers used, is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than FFXIV, WoW, or any other ACTUAL MMO.

    Yes, Square was well aware of the number of copies of the game they sold. But maybe they didn't count on the number of 1.0 players coming back and tipping the balance over what their servers could handle? Regardless of what the reason was that they were caught with their pants down, they were pathetically unprepared for the launch.

    I did read what you posted. You're all for letting the servers crash, and the AFKers getting booted. I get that. But removing login restrictions won't magically solve things. Once they remove the restrictions and the servers go down, when enough people get BACK on, the servers will go down again. And again. And again. Because they removed the limits. People who are AFKing are not the primary cause for people not being able to log in. If you believe that, you're delusional, or misinformed.

    'Closed Beta Test 4' didn't exist. Are you thinking of the open beta? Closed Beta Test 3 was the last 'closed' phase before the open one.. but anyways, I digress. Even the open beta had a smaller number of people playing the game. Some people didn't want to bother with it, so they didn't even try to install the 'open beta' client and play. (continued...)

    People AFKing are not the primary cause, but they have been identified by even the developers as a problem. I proposed an easy to implement idea that solves that problem. I don't claim its perfect, but I think that the aggregate playerbase would be happier with being able to login when the servers are up, than playing with a queueless log system in that realistically shouldn't have been a problem today or even in the last 5 years of modern software.
