Really? 200? At least? Did you actually go through and count them, and realize that 200 people is a larger number than what most people can generalize like that? Did you sit there and watch them for 5+ minutes, making sure that they were really afk and not watching some cutscene, or messing with their inventory, or sitting around typing in free company chat/linkshell chat?

I dont understand what it is with white knights in this game, I have heard of rabid fanboism before but this goes to extremes...the system is broken EVERYONE knows its broken yet you white knighters insist on defending the system.....well I have been trying to log in since 6 am this morning it is now almost 10 am at night. I bought and paid for this game I have EVERY right to be irritated beyond all means especially when this has been going on for WEEKS

As Yoshi-P said, there were 120k people playing the open beta concurrently (aka: at one time). 120k is a LOT smaller than the people who have the game now, and are trying to log in and play. Far less than half, in fact (as the dev team said that if they took the number of people trying to connect and play across all time zones at once, it would be 300k+ people). If the game had only sold 120k copies and that's how many people would be trying to play, things would be fine. But it's not. They sold a larger number of copies than that, in addition to the 1.0 people coming back and playing, so that there are more than 200k+ people trying to play. Their servers can't handle that. Removing the login restrictions, booting the AFKers.. none of that would work to allow you to play this very second. If they did that, the game would be crashing. Constantly. Nobody would get to play.

    Does that explain things better?

PS: This stupid 1,000 character limit on posts is dumb.

At least booting the AFKers levels the playing field. Since everybody gets to taste 1017. I know i'm QQing it's just the more than 8hrs of trying is kinda getting annoying. Just wednesday cant come soon enough.

Yea..I know :\ Trying to get in ALL day on the second day after release was horrible. Trying to log in through this error at any time really, is horrible. One would assume (or hope!) that after a week of the game being out, and there being several emergency maintenance periods early on, that everybody has gotten to see the 1017 error at least once!

If you're upset about not being able to play, go do something else. In the hours that I can't get back in, I catch up on my backlog of other games that I haven't had time for. Suggesting that they remove the login limits and let them crash, is dumb. A better suggestion would be 'Hey, can you do a reset of the servers to kick people off?' Not 'Hey, remove the log in limit so the game crashes and everybody's stuck trying to reconnect'

People are so quick to assume an idea is dumb or delusional. The truth of the matter is, there are a lot of other software developers out there that have already solved problems worse than this faster than this. Read into how blizzard handled the Diablo 3 launch perhaps. Sony on Planetside 2, or hell even planetside 1. I hope I don't have to cite every mmo launched in the last 10 years. Frankly, Square was well aware of the number of copies of the game they sold, and had ample opportunity to prepare for this level of traffic.
