I have recently read the post from the Director of the game, Stating that They are trying to fix these issues with some basic restrictions. These restrictions are saddly keeping people out of the game. This is how games do tend to go though, so I do understand this. BUT, What I'm trying to understand, Is why there is no Auto AFK, if there is a limit to 5000 people able to log onto a server at any given time. When I know for fact that there are a Huge number of people that Do tend to stay in the game 24 hours a day, While they are sleeping.
In the post by the Director, It was also stated, That while the idea of an Auto Afk timer is something they could look at in the future, It is something that they are not willing to look at now. Instead they are looking at making More servers.
Points against this.
1) No Auto afk, Means the same players that never get off, are going to always be on taking space. If people have friends that want to play with them, The friends will Not be able to make new characters on THAT server.
2) More servers, While still no AFK messures, Will be nice to start with, But eventually get full of yet more people that never go offline.
3) Once The Auto Afk system is finally looked at, and implemented.... because It will be a needed feature at some point, The worlds that were made to help the overflow, are going to die.
Basically, Overflow servers are a quick fix, they are going to spread people out more, Meaning that there are going to be a lot of people angry due to not being able to play on the same servers on their friends. Once the hayday of a New game tones down a bit, All the extra servers are going to be dead servers, That are going to then be forced to join the original servers anyways. So why not implement the Auto Afk system, To actually account for the people that are playing at any given time. Not let the few people with perfect internet take up all the space, By standing around not adding anything to the game, And Not just add more servers that are going to be dead space later?
Also These particular errors This close to the start of a new game on an almost constant basis, are going to be more detrimental to the game then almost anything else. People are eventually going to get frustrated beyond the point of coming back, losing the game revenue that it is going to be wanting.
