I notice that SE keeps saying that they have overpopulated worlds and thats why we cant log in, but as far as i can tell and correct me if im wrong I cant tell which server has a higher population than the other. If wrong let me know, but if so that we cant tell maybe implementing a population viewer might help with servers. I know many people flock to low population servers especially when they are new to a game and dont know anyone. Another thing is maybe u should restrict character creation to only allow 3x as many characters to be created on a single world then what the world and the server queue can max out. Then not as many people would complain more people could get on and when the world is full just black out the world so its not accessible unless someone deletes a character. Then its first come first serve, but they cant complain. and as u gain more customers you can add worlds.

just a thought and please let me know if im wrong. otherwise besides the battle to log into the game i love FFXIV, and I only complain about not being able to get in every so often cause many of us are limited in time we can play, but other than that its a great game. I know the hardships of MMO's its not easy, especially when u undervalue the product at hand, thats the biggest battle to over value or to undervalue. overvalue can lose money faster than undervaluing a game, so all in all it was the right choice out of both those, but as we all see u could have overvalued and made more money. But all in all i understand the pain so I will button-smash my controller till i get onto the game. keep up good game fix servers and if anything i said above helps great if not, just take it for what it is a helpful suggestion.
