Two ffxiv.exe crashes today, anyone else?

Hi all, anyone else experience any actual game crashes today? (aka windows has experienced an error in this program and has to close it, etc). I had one earlier this afternoon right when crossing into Coerthas at the border (instantly popped up the error dialog and windows must close the program. 2nd one just happened tonight while I was doing a grand company quest, the instant I started attacking an enemy seemed to trigger it. This one wasn't instant but instead I saw my FPS drop to about 5 for a few seconds then I got the error dialog. I'm on the Diabolos server on NA. My system is an i5-3570k with 16GB ram and a Radeon 6950 graphics card. Everything running stock, latest drivers, no overclocking. No other issues with any other games, just FFXIV. Worst part is now I can't even log in to resume my quest so i'll probably lose an allowance. Stupid 1017 error!

edit: interestingly the errors and faults are almost identical between the two incidents
