I just got in! O_O I know, it's weird huh. So that took me 3 hours. How long has it taken for you guys?

Also. Where do I find my preorder code. I haven't seen anything in moogle mail or anything about the preorder items

prorder codes, i.e., the code you receive to gain access to the moogle cap and the little whatchema'call-it, is given to you, by SE when you enter your preorder code (from your retailer) into a particular site set up by SE.

Then having received a second code (the one SE then sends you) you type this code into your 'Redeem code' section under your account management in the Network tab of your Playstation Home menu.
you probably need to log out to do this (lol, NOT happening)

You then go to your nearest moogle in game, and accept the gifts.

I don't know how different this is if you order a digital copy. but if you didn't do all the pre-emptive code typing in, I can tell you the minion does nothing, and the moogle Cap gives an EXP boost when you;re below lv 10.
but at the start of the game most of the EXP will come from quest completion and you'll go from level 1~10 in no time at all.

Having done this with and without a moogle cap, I can report there is absolutely no difference in how quickly you get to lv 10 since the EXP boost seems to only activate from killing monsters (which is a tiny amount anyways compared to what you get for questing)
You'll be level 3 before you even leave your town just by running round doing fetch quests and tutorial bits.
You'll be level 6 before you return from your "my first ever" kill X amount of lady birds/rats/mushrooms quests, which when you do, you'll be handed your hunting log and more quests to safely and quickly see you to level 10.

Moogle cap good for 2nd and up class. Since you will run out with first quest and do hunting log. No other quest to do until 5 and then 10.

Did you preorder the game? Usually they put preorder codes on the receipt.

yea I preorded, I checked the receipt there was no codes or anything.
