    Arcanist - Summoner Question

Right now I am playing as an Arcanist and plan to become a summoner down the road. I know the 30/15 requirements but my question is could I... or should I just level my Arcanist all the way to level 50 to unlock its final spell first?

I know most people jump right on the opportunity to be the next job class, but I kind of like the sound of having Shadow Flare in my skill set.

If I just keep my Arcanist until level 50 is it going to hurt anything? Or if I switch to summoner am I going to continue to unlock Arcanist skills as I level also? Finally, if I do unlock all the arcanist skills can I even use them as Summoner?

Jobs don't work that way. You still level as an arcanist all the way to level 50. It's not like Pokemon. You don't just miss out on spells because you became a Summoner.

Go ahead and obtain the job; equip the soul stone and keep playing.

From what I understand you can also be multiple jobs. You just have to meet the requirements to unlock that job as well.

From my understanding think of classes as a journey from 1-50 like your average mmo levelling and then jobs as a parallel extension that add a more unique flavor to your base class.

Yes and yes. Jobs are just a piece of equipment that you can put on or off. Your level is your Arcanist's level whether you are Summoner or Scholar or nothing. So it helps to get as soon as you can, because you can always choose whether you want it on or not.

think of summoner as an arcanist who has learned to summon bigger and badder summons. You still get all of your arcanist skills plus all of the summoner ones, as long as you keep the item for summoner equip. From what I can tell, there is no benefit to NOT being summoner after you unlock it.

When you finish SMN quest (You have to fight Ifrit Egi), You will get soul crystal. Once, you equip SMN soul crystal. You will be summoner. You will get ACN skills and SMN Skill together. So, go for summoner.

This is one thing most people don't know yet, so this is why there's a community to help

A job doesn't level up. Instead, all experience gained while you're in a job, is added to the main class it branches from. As such, you will continue to level up that class, and learn any and all spells that class would learn.

Let me put it this way, a Job is simply an extension of your class (in this case, Arcanist). If you want to be a Summoner, you will switch to your Arcanist class AND equip the Summoner's Soul. If you want to be a Scholar, you simply change your Summoner's Soul to a Scholar's Soul.

Your Job level is dependent on your main Class's level, which means if you level while in Summoner, you are actually leveling your Arcanist class. That also means you are leveling your Scholar too because Scholar main class is Arcanist!

EDIT: Arcanist is the currently the only Class which have 2 Jobs extended from 1 Class, the other Classes at the moment only have 1 Job deriving from it.
