That is a good idea. I get what they were going for with the mask thing but it just looks silly to me without the proper dark shading to actually make your face disappear. Especially if you wear the hat without the body, then it just looks downright dumb.
You know, I was just walking through Gridania and saw someone in the blue/yellow black mage outfit - looked exact!
It was marked as Evenstar stuff, but still....are we missing something?
I love both colour sets, but would like the choice as well, if possible.
Cant you dye AF armor now?
Yes you can. You can get the Wizard's Attire Augmentation (craftable with some high level mats) and trade it in with your old AF gear for dyeable AF gear. Note that the body and leg pieces each require TWO augmentation items.
The Evenstar gear was probably glamoured.
Also, this thread is almost a year old now. Augments and glamour didn't exist back then.
never liked black mages of this series. they don't even look like a human.
but you can try the Battlemage pants. it alluded to the original black mage striped pants.

I like how "black" mages wear black gear. If anything, we should just have the ability to dye our AFs.
I managed to complete the whole set thanks to my friend Nimin Ipsilon ^^ (posted this in the vanity thread too).
We played around with different color combinations....unfortunately you cannot select specific areas to color (as we all know) and because of this there is no way to look like Lalai . I hope they implement this feature in the future because that purple scarf looks ugly ;x. Also, you cant remove the eye patch as someone pointed out.
This is the closest I was able to get to anything decent looking...red wine dye also looks cool, not as cool as the red lala in the picture someone posted tho. A funny one was lime green body, purple legs, and red hat, looks like a Ochu lol
A bit late by 2 years and too overcomplicated to make but at least it's something, still should have had the traditional BLM colors since the beginning.
I think the current Black Mage set is the original intent of the black mage garb. The background on the NES fight scenes was black and since the color palette was simple, they had to use blue to simulate black.
