I filed a complaint at the Better Business Bureau due to not being able to play. I have asked them several times for a refund and they don't even reply to me.

Wow....that's all I can say, is wow. I'm so glad that gamers have become this....it's pretty hilarious. This isn't even a bad game, it just has some hiccups that are being worked out, and people are acting and speaking like they're all twelve year olds.
Being mad is one thing, giving some constructive venting is another, harassing developers (not you, but others), threatening them, and then filing complaints against their company, because the game launch was less than stellar? Seriously?
This is why we can't have nice things....right here. And this is also the reason I literally decided to not proceed with my degree in game design. I'll be damned if I put up with abuse like I've seen on these forums....it's pathetic.
I filed a complaint to get a refund. I asked them for a refund and I get a generic response that has nothing to do with what I'm asking for. It's like if I were to order something to find out the day it was supposed to arrive that the item was on back-order I would request a refund. The difference between this situation and the situation with Square Enix is I would actually get a refund without having to file a complaint.Wow....that's all I can say, is wow. Yeah, and if you go see a movie and don't like it, you ask for a refund and get it right? No.I filed a complaint to get a refund. As to the other guy....dude, you have no idea what I've been through in life, or the crap I've seen doing 9 years in the Army. Getting threatened and abused from gamers on a daily basis because they don't like a choice I made in the story....no thanks. It's not just these boards, its the industry, gamers are pure and simple....assholes. I'll pass on that.
That's a terrible comparison. You go into a movie knowing you may or may not like it. And after you've seen the movie, you've already "consumed" the product so getting a refund isn't justified. This situation would be analogous to paying for a movie and then not being able to see it due to a broken projector. I think a refund in that case would be more than justified, don't you?
Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand. I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me. Take me out to the black, tell them I ain't comin' back. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.
Perhaps on a case by case basis, sure, because what you define as consume may be different for the company. One hour of gameplay? Two hours? Six? Who knows....I'm just saying it's a bit ridiculous when they're fixing the problem as we speak....that's all. I go into games knowing I may or may not like them as well, does that mean I should file complaints against EVERY company that's put out a crap title with bugs? Man, if that's the case, Gearbox should be shut down for Aliens: CM.
I'm nowhere NEAR a SE defender. My buddy and I make fun of the company, Kingdom Hearts (yeah, little boys with keys aren't my thing), and the route FF has taken over the years....but this, this is just insane.
Your logic is amazing, if we're not receiving the products we PAID for, we can and do get a refund. Also, if you go to the movie theatre expecting to watch a movie and it starts late or there are ANY hiccups on the theatre part, they compensate (which SE is doing, 7 free days).Perhaps on a case by case basis, sure, because what you define as consume may be different for the company. As much as I hate to admit, the analogy is horrible. If you pay to go to a cinema and watch a movie and they experience technical difficulties every 20 minutes, they directly disrupt your experience and you're entitled for a refund.
Yeah, but if you go and the door is locked, and you pull and it doesn't open, and then an usher tries to help and you still can't get in, then the manager comes and says "yeah, sorry, the theater's full. Try the 10pm showing." you absolutely get a refund. Surely your time in the military didn't rob you of all common sense? This isn't about not liking the game. To quote the post to which you're responding is about—and I quote—"not being able to play."
