I miss my DRK so much! Could be a job from MAR-30 and THM-15, with MAR, THM and LNC as it's sub classes for abilities. It's gotta be a scythe user, screw GS. =P

While I would love to see Dark nights come off of levelling Gladiator, I do feel for anyone levelling Marauder in the mindset of using it for dps. Sure Warrior is still fairly strong, but when someone picks up a big ol 2h axe they don't really consider it to be a defender class.

MRD > DRK no thanks. Rather it be gladiator.

However, they will probably make a class for it anyways if they don't plan on making it a tank. GLD and MRD both have too many enmity and defensive skills.

SE has said that they're able to make job crystals completely alter class abilities, so they could very well still branch a DRK off GLD or MRD and have the crystal remove the enmity modifiers on their skills. both of those classes also have a solid DPS cooldown already and they could grab more from other classes depending on what their subclasses are.

People are also assuming that a 14 DRK has to play like an 11 DRK i.e. a plate class with lower defense that suicides itself with all of its major skills. I wouldn't be surprised if this time SE make them cleave more closely to Cecil or Dimensions as opposed to the 11 model. They may even decide to take some cues from Shadowknights in EQ 2 or Death Knights from WoW and make them drain tanking DOT monsters.

Seconded. Love DRK. I'm fine with either tank or DPS for it honestly. I did end up DRK/WAR tanking in FFXI x.x ... didn't say it wasn't painful but hey tanks were scarce. I do feel MRD lends more to it then GLD but I wouldn't complain about either.

Yea I want my Dark Knight again. Honestly i would prefer a whole new 2-handed sword class to be the base for Dark Knight.

Class: Soldier w/ 2-handed sword Job: Dark Knight -Melee DPS

However if it had to be from a current class I could see Dark Knight be a very interesting branch from GLD. It could even stay a tank and focus on more DPS to sustain hate and provide significant amounts of Lifesteal and enfeebling abilities. Drks always where awesome at pulling hate back in the day lol.
