Preorder FFXIV, out for almost a week now and have been able to play maybe 5 hours altogether and not from lack of trying. Funny thing is is that when I was able to play and group for Satasha me and a buddy were lancer and arcanist and it took us over 45 mins to get a 4 man group. BUT supposedly the servers are so full no one else can play but it takes 45 mins to get 2 people for the first dungeon Most everyone is at. Gameplay = good but Servers, and instabilities, and the feeling of being robbed of something i can almost never play. Wasn't it was supposed to be updated and new and a playable game come 2.0 and they can't get the servers right even come the end of beta?

If you both queued as dps, then be prepared for long queue times. It happens in every MMO, there will always be more dps than tanks or healers.

As a DPS queue for Duty takes a rather long time and that's because there is many DPS... As stated, lack of tanks/healer classes also queuing. Me and my partner (Arcanist) queue up for Duty and it takes at most, 5-10 minutes to find Healer and DPS. As long as you have a Healer or a Tank class already in party, wait time is minimal.

I play a tank and quite often spend less than a minute in queue before getting a party. If you are DPS, get a tank or healer to party up with before joining the duty finder, otherwise just deal with the long waits. Or play a tank or healer

And yes, the servers are full. Have you been to Quarrymill? So many people the game can't even render all the characters, and that's with max settings. One reason the servers are so full is that people aren't logging off because they don't want to have to try for hours on end to get back in. I liked how in FFXI there was a setting for how long to wait before auto logging off. I always set mine to never to do it, but I think the default was 15 minutes or something. They need to bring that feature back for this game.
