    Continuing problems

    Hello,

While I realize that this is somewhat repetitive in that there are already many threads on this issue I decided to post a new one to show my perspective as apposed to add it to the long list of replies in many of the other threads.

I pre-ordered this game and was therefore able to get early access. Due to my work schedule I am only able to play for maybe a few hours every other night or so. With all the problems they have been having I wasn't even able to create a character on the server several of my friends are on until the Wednesday after the official launch.

Since then I have only been able to even log into my character twice.

I was hoping that I might be able to get in about 2 to 3 hours each day over this weekend but that apparently is not to be.

First off I am constantly getting booted to the main window due to the server being full. I unfortunately am not able to sit around for hours to keep trying to log in until I finally do get in.

I can understand teething problems with a game on launch week however this is the worst I've seen outside of SimCity. My account has been able to play this game for 10 days now but due to the shortsightedness on Square Enix's part I have only been able to play for two of those days.

Why am I calling this shortsighted on their part? Because they had pre-order numbers to show how many people would be playing even with the early access. During the early access period the servers were constantly at capacity so they couldn't even handle the number of pre-order subscribers, never mind how many there would be on launch day. Despite trying during the entire early access period I was unable to even create a character due to this.

Secondly how they are handling the overcapacity is laughable. They state that they have a login queue to get access to the servers. If their current implimentation of the queue is considered a queue then they need to go back and read up the definition of a queue. Their current implimentation works like this:

Slots open up on the server as people logoff, etc. Everyone who hit connect at that point gets shoved in a queue. Once the number of people are in to fill the available slots it boots everyone from the queue and back to the title screen.

In every other MMO I've played they do not do this. Everyone goes into the queue if the server is full. Then as slots open up it lets people in until it is full again. Everyone else remains in the queue until more slots open up again. This method I find acceptable on how to properly handle a maximum capacity issue with a server.

The next problem I am seeing is that they are not instituting an idle timer to auto-kick players who have been idle for a set point of time. I know for a fact that large portion of players are leaving their characters logged into the game when they are not playing due to the difficulties getting into the game int he first place.

They should have, and still need to, implement a kick timer of say about an hour. This will give others a fair chance to get into the server and play the game they purchased.

Now, I call on Square Enix to state how to properly compensate not just me but all the other players like me who are not able to play the game they purchased?

I realize they have added 7 days to the accounts before the subscription kicks in. In my case I should have been able to play for 10 days now and have been unable to do so for 8 of it due to continuing issues on Square Enix's part. Therefore the 7 added days do not make up for all of this and their planned addition of capacity will not happen for another 3 days. So likely this will be 11 or more days in total before I am able to play in the little time I'm able to.

At this point I will probably not be subscribing to this game despite the fact that I would very much like to play this game from my time in the Beta. It is an enjoyable game to play and it saddens me that they have failed this badly despite having time to minimize these issues before launch even happened. At this point I can not recommend this game to any of my other friends who did not pre-order like I did.

So again, what is Square Enix doing to compensate those of us who are in a similar position to me and wish to keep us as a reoccurring revenue stream?

    Thank you

    Perfectly Said

    I agree 100%

    You said it perfectly

It took them most of the morning before they realized a problem and posted information and now they saying it is fixed well it may be working in JP which seems to be the norm but NA is not - everyone is going over to JP to play and now those servers are REALLY overloaded.

I hear by end of week they will have update servers to fix this problem - have they not heard of overnight drop ship and fix this problem NOW!
