Please let us know when your doing maintenance SE.

I have been trying to log in for about 30 min with no success. First the usual 1017 error, that's no problem, know that's due to full worlds.

But this morning it started to drop all NA worlds, or all JA worlds when trying to select my character. After messing with that for 15 min, it appeared as though they turned off all access to character selection :/

Upon trying to see if they posted a maintenance bulletin in the news section of the login screen so I could go about my day and find something else to do but there was none. So I tried to log in again and now I get 2002 codes and the "Start" button after login is faded and unusable.

Upon even further investigation, more of my time wasted, I logged into the lodestone and saw that the last login was at 0752 CST! No one was able to log in since then! Its now 1057 CST, so that's about 3 hours of maintenance they have been doing, without bothering to let people know.

So please SE from now on post in the news section when your performing maintenance because with the 1017's and how messed up everything already is, its not easy to notice when you really can't get in.

And "Login Issues" is not clear enough, I, no everyone who plays this game experienced login issues since you started this game every day from 1017 to who knows what else. Its the polite thing to do.

UPDATE @ 1423 CST

Well, came back from errands and tried to quick login, the problems are still persisting. Start button works for now but can't access any of the NA servers.

Checked on lodestone and it said 1 person logged in at 0915 but no one since then. Maybe there are extra gold sellers logged in today and put the population over the top. Anyway, going to attempt one last thing, the solution to this problem according to SE Tech guy Caedramir. Linked here ( http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...rror-Code-2002 )

Though I don't think that will solve it, can't just dismiss the advice either, I'm off to give it a shot.

UPDATE @ 1453 CST

Did as Tech post said including configuring router to their recommended port settings. As suspected this did nothing. I was able to play for the past week without doing this so its no surprise, just had to try it.

NA worlds are down but JA worlds are up, I went as far as going in to create a new character. I was able to see all JA worlds, with those that are locked for character creation a light grey as should be if the world is operating, connection at the top said Good. When I scrolled over to NA worlds however under connection it was red with the letters None in the status box. So they must have really shut down the NA or the JA login servers, depending on which they were working on.

Those already logged in say there was an emergency maintenance log on there chat windows.

Yes there as been there was a system message while in game said they were doing emergency maintenance, didn't say how long but that was about 3 hours ago

But those of us trying to log in and aren't in the game are left in the dark as to what is happening.

there has been no maint. my friend is currently playing im able to seethe NA/EU server list im just getting plague with 1017. All these issues you are seeing will be fixed on the 4th.

It's nice to think they're doing maintenance, but I think everyone knows they aren't.

It would definitely be in their best interest to notify users when they are performing maintenance so that people will stop swarming the login servers.

they do its on the launcher.. but they are not having a scheduled maintenance.

That's good to hear! I think people are simply running into the restrictions set by SE. We'll have to be patient until they implement more server stability fixes such as the AFK auto boot this week.

Huh, so they're now blocking people from hitting START just because of log in problems? Well crap might as well uninstall my game next with such heavy handed fixes!
