I've been able to get in but it's taken me over an hour most times. They need to have an AFK kick time of 15 minutes or something. That's the problem right now...so many idlers are taking up all the space in the game.

Actually...
From the time of Phase 4 start, through Early Access period and launch... I think I've had 14 hours/day on average on non-work days and 5 hours/day on work days.
Haven't yet been a day when I couldn't log in and "do my hours".
I dont get what the point of a Queue is when it NEVER seems to Queue you, you just get blocked. I've about had it with this game and am losing interest completely in it.
No, every time I have had 1017.
I'm pretty patient, dealt with it in EA, and since the official release and I know they are getting new servers and working on things. I've dealt with some pretty bad launches with games, though this one in my experience takes the gold medal by far.
I was pretty excited about this game, but now I'm not anymore. Last MMO I played seriously was WoW and I canceled my sub about 6 months ago and was looking forward to giving this a serious go. I actually re activated my WoW account and have been playing because of this mess and I'm just not sure when it's going to stabilize.
Not too mention all the friends I have are we all going to re-roll on a new server, get transfers? try to stay on the high pop release server? It's just such a big mess that I just don't even want to deal with it anymore. Besides the point, I have other obligations like work and a family that when I get the chance to play, I can't. It's horribly frustrating and inconvenient, especially with being as patient as I am trying to be with the game.
I'm trying to be positive and I am giving it another week, if it's not better by then I'll probably just return the game and walk away and keep playing something else. The gameplay has been fantastic in game the few times I have been able to play. But the experience just trying to log in is enough to make me give this one up.
Here's hoping you really do fix thing's in a quick and efficient manner Square! you made a hell of a game, just dropped the ball with other aspects.
People play this game? I thought the whole point was to log in so you can go AFK
This is intolerable. Square Enix dropped the ball big time with this log in fiasco. All MMO's have growing and start up pains but this is outrageous. Sometimes the launcher itself will not load properly, then maybe you get to character creation only to see that there are no servers available. When one is available, it is nearly impossible to log into the game itself (1017). If you get booted from this screen, sometimes the server list is inaccessible again, unless you want to play on a japanese server half a world away. Sometime the start button is even greyed out!
This is a great game, but too much headache. I will never purchase a SE game again, and I shall recommend to my friends, and through my prolific blogging that others also boycott this exercise in frustration!
Little to none the last two days.
I haven't played since the game release, haven't even started a character.. I got into a Japanese server today, but then decided to just quit. Idk if you'll be able to transfer over from Japan to NA servers, so I just stopped..
I was able to play all day yesterday with no problems, but I logged in right after emergency maintenance ended. I stayed logged in for about 14 hours non-stop. What we were noticing was that our FC mates would log in several at a time, in waves, and each wave seemed to be about 30 minutes from the last. Each time a few of them would say how they'd been trying for many hours and were finally able to get in.
Right now I'm unable to play because apparently the Character Selection world is full. I'll try again in a few minutes but I play on Leviathan, which is a very popular server, so I have a backup plan... spending time in the real world
I do wish people would quit spamming 0 on the numpad trying to get in. That's probably why the lobby keeps getting overwhelmed and then nobody can log in. Yes, SE underestimated the popularity and they are going to fix that issue, but people are making it worse by basically doing a denial of service attack.
Well, at least it isn't that no one is able to play. Some people are lucky enough to get in the game. That's something I guess. Errors I get have been different everytime I try to log. I can get into the lobby and pick my char, than get 1017. I try for so long and so completely out and re-log in and... it won't show NA/EU servers... or I get 2002
/sigh I have only got to actually play once since the official launch. As someone mentioned, I have a job. I can't log in early in the game to play and when I get home, by the time I actually make it in the game would be 11-12 at night... by than I'd need to go to bed so I can go to work. I refuse to get in to the game early in the morning just so I can go AFK all day so i can play when I get home (which is ONLY reason I was able to log in and play Friday night). I don't have problem waiting in queue if they just have it where you log in, and system put you automatically in queue. But most of the time I can't even get on the queue. it just gives 1017. VERY frustrating. And it has be very frustrating when they are saying problems were fixes or servers are up yet I wasn't able to get even to the lobby.
Like right now, I was able to get to the server, it was just full.. after trying for aboue an hour, I log out of the game and re-logged in... and now NA/EU servers are not listed for me again >.<
