Last night, at 5am Eastern time, my friend told me Behemoth was up. I went to the FATE and an overwhelming amount of people were there. So many, in fact, that Behemoth would not even load unless I was on top of him... which usually meant if I could see him, I was surely going to die from his AoE before I could get out of it. Because he didn't load unless people were physically close to him, they were dropping like flies. They could not see the red 'circles' on the ground associated with his attacks. Suffice it to say we all kept dying like newbies who can't dodge even the most basic of attacks.
While I'm sure Behemoth is intended to be a fun, challenging fight, it turned into a zerg fest not only because so many people were in the area but also because people could not strategize at ALL due to the model not staying on the screen. Behemoth is not the only example of this problem. Svara (the 30k dragon FATE) never stays loaded unless you are on top of it. Odin apparently has the same issues (never seen him though).
So here is what I am suggesting:
Please make a way to prioritize monster bodies (and party members) over other models on the screen. Right now, they seem to be prioritized equally, as I am not seeing party members unless I am close and am seeing random non-party members before seeing my own party. Ideally, we would always see the monster no matter WHERE it was on the screen (close or far away) with the dozens of other people being secondary to the people you are actually partying with. If people do not like this idea (and would prefer to see only those close to them), we could make it an on/off option.
This would fix a lot of the problems with FATEs that become just too overloaded. I'd like to fight them as they are intended to be fought, with some added difficulty. As of right now, Behemoth and other FATEs simply turn into a zerg fest. =/
Edit: I didn't realize a thread similar to this already existed while doing my quick skim earlier. Since that one already has more input, please go give it your support. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-Load-Priority
