Regarding Yoshi's latest letter......

So it sounds like the data center expansion is just to add new worlds... That is what the letter indicates. All that is happening this week is new worlds added so new players can create characters and play. That is nice and all but for those of us on congested servers, it sounds like cap will stay in place, 1017 will stay in place, and we will never actually be able to play.

I really hope Yoshi clarifies his statement and proves this to be wrong but this is seriously what it sounds like is happening.

It is unfortunate. Nearly being a white mage now, I will not want to make a new character, and Im sure many others wont want to either.

Haha that is the most pathetic adjustment he could have made to this situation. Bottom line I am on Diabolos with my FC, and I will NEVER actually be able to play the game until NA/Eu servers become so dead because of his incompetence.

The worlds are probably already at the maximum number of players that the server software can handle. Just throwing hardware at the problem will probably not help and might cause the worlds to become unstable. Hopefully they will allow players to transfer their characters to another world for free to even out the server load. They have not said they will allow free transfers, but it seems like that is what they need to do to fix the problem.

Lot of game developers on the MMO bandwagon not realizing what it takes to make and maintain a good one. I've played and tested A LOT of MMOs, and there's a reason why there's still one out there to "rule them all".

And it's because it's simply more refined.

Honestly, it might not solve anything for you, but it solves -everything- for me. Because I work and did not play until this weekend, I was forced to only play on a Japanese server. That is -not- where my main will be, and not to mention, I can't ever log in there.

The problem lies with the Lobby server, if that gets bombed then no one will log in, regardless of which world that you are on!
Adding more servers will help new players create characters.. that is it, because once their character is created, they will still be going through the same lobby server as all of us, and it isn't just the 1071 error, its the fact that it can't always located NA/EU servers. As the list is called from the lobby.

So add as many worlds as you want, you will still have the same problems!

Yep, I am playing the TESO beta right now. The longer it takes for SE to correct the problem the more likely I will not come back to the game. I know they acknowledge the faults, but to keep so many people from being able to play for the long weekend means they are missing out on making me a loyal customer. The game is good, but it is not good enough to withstand the this. Living in a results based society, a goal of Wednesday to fix the problem is unacceptable and if the problem persists at the level I have experienced today then I will not be giving SE my money.

To address this matter, we are currently working on introducing new Worlds and enhancing the performance of the login and match making processes on both the Japanese and North American & European data centers. This operation is expected to be completed at the beginning of next week.

So it's not just adding new servers.
