...you wish you could just go back to getting error 1017.
...you wish you could just go back to getting error 1017.
Hahaha, been thinking exactly this for the last 3 hours!
Or when you were D/C'd from the game yesterday, and still getting error 1017s non-stop for the past 18 hours.
When a login Q brings you a smile..
After how many days now? Or has it been weeks since P4 started? All that I know is that my Pavlovian training courtesy of Square Enix has me salivating every time I hit the 0 button in attempts to defy my Fate at the 1017 Error always displayed that I have entirely forgotten that there is actually the promise of a mythical (probably non-existent) game beyond that.
I am so disgusted at Square Enix right now because I cannot play my usual 1017 Error Game. Instead I started getting "Unable to Update the Group NA/EU Server Character List". My mouth is turning dry and my skin has begun to crawl like an addict denied his 1017 fix.
I seriously began to think that the "Unable to Update the Group NA/EU Server Character List" was a new official expansion to the disgrace that has become known as "FFXIV:A Realm Unreachable". So, as I began to settle with the idea of adapting to the new challenges this expansion brought to the game, I started grinding my way through this new error.
But Lo! Square Enix had not yet proven how degraded I had become, wallowing in the filth that they have served me and profited from, while I was still willing to continue to try in vain to ascend to the lofty throne of logging in, an achievement reserved for only 5000 of those they have deemed most worthy. Further humiliation was still in store for me at the behest of Square Enix.
As I clearly needed yet more humiliation for being so foolish as to trust Square Enix after being deceived with the original FFXIV, yet remaining hopeful as a fan-boi should that I still inexplicably pre-ordered not one, not two, but count 'em three copies of FFXIV:ARR, Square Enix took me down yet another notch by changing my Login Game yet again. Now, I can't even click on [START] at the Main Menu. Instead it sits there, while I patiently wait (for how long? It could have been 5 minutes that passed, or several hours, or a day or two. I have lost track of all time as I have become hypnotized by the swirling blue mass of stars at the Main Screen of the game. Yes, my masters, I shall do thine bidding!) eventually throwing me some sort of strange, hitherto unforeseen error about the Lobby Servers rejecting all connections.
Have I unlocked a new Achievement, perhaps? Has my unending days of playing the Login Game and it's recent Expansion finally paid off and come to fruition? Alas, my hopes are shattered once again as I come to the Forums and realize that I am not alone, and that numerous others have achieved the same rank as I! At this rate I will never prove myself worthy enough to my Square Enix masters to earn being numbered amongst those exclusive 5000 that are actually allowed into the Promised Land.
I cry, but only briefly, as I ALT-TAB back to the game to press the 0 key yet again in vain hopes that something may have changed while I type these words. It is then that I realize that the definition of Insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing, over and over, expecting different results, where any sane person would have given up after the first day and asked for a refund(s) and swore off Square Enix forevermore.
"Square Enix! Why hath thou forsaken us?" I scream as I shake my angry fists at the sky.
Why would they care? They have done this before, and they shalt continue to do this, and they certainly will persist in doing it again and again because their fans are clearly, by definition of the word, "insane" (see above) and freely let them get away with it. Square Enix is a business, a very financially troubled business that just lost several billion Yen last quarter, and are about as close to Bankruptcy as SOE is. In their desperation they will part as much money from the fools who remain loyal as they can for the least amount of effort on their part. Yet, somehow we fan-bois think that it is about us, and that Square Enix cares about us, and will cater to us, and give us what we want if we continue to remain loyal and steadfast. New Servers aren't coming as that costs money, precious money that Square Enix lost repeatedly the last several fiscal quarters, and are so far in the "Red" and too far extended on their credit that they cannot even leverage a loan to buy more. Future development on this game is also as equally questionable, as higher profit margin games such as yet another FFVII Re-Release can garner with minimum effort with the lowest payroll expense. It is about profits after all, and you can't have a Net Profit no matter how high your Revenue is, if you Expenses, like Development Payroll are too high.
Why did I even come here, knowing full well that the feeling of dread would inevitably overwhelm and defeat me? I guess I'm a glutton for punishment at the hands of my Square Enix overlords that I needed to submit myself for their further amusement, just as each and every person still here, waiting to get in the game has.
Are we having fun yet?

^ yeah no kidding. if i can just get a login QUEUE for c's sakes im happy.
I actually got in this morning, so I guess I can't complain too much, but I was unceremoniously disconnected from the game a half hour ago. No error screen, no return to the login screen, the PS3 just crashed and rebooted while zoning. Sucks. I doubt I get back in today. Oh well.
i got login que 3 times in 10 min just kicks you out when you get the loading into game screen anyway
I remember one time getting into queue and I was #111, but for the most part whenever I manage to miraculously get into a queue I'm so crazy low number like #11 or 8.
...you start playing other games because at least they're stable.
