Emergency maintenance notice... but no maintenance?

they say that message without a logout notification because it's NOT the actual server but the lobby servers that are going down. That is my theory

I am, with zero delay, getting the cannot load na/eu server cluster error. Before, when the cluster was 'up' but I was unable to load them, I'd have to wait 5-12 seconds or so for the screen to load up and show the error. Now I get it immediately. Maybe that's a sign of maintenance? I know the status says they're up, but I've heard rumors that SE hasn't been keeping the statuses accurate during emergency maintenance lately.
I don't know though, this just an observation.

this is all great and all but what about the cases where people are forced to log out/shutdown the game

Experience from last time i decided to stay logged in and not been kicked so leveling up my crafting.

I saw the Maintenance warning, ignored it since it didn't say "Logoff", entered duty finder and got booted with the famous 90000 error. Now can't log on. Oh well, think its time to hit some old school Final Fantasy on NES for a bit.
