So the issue is the login servers are down which is why the NA/EU server list doesn't show up when I log into the game?? I created a character on a JP server and it showed that toon instead of my Dragoon by default (last played). My roomate is on Coeurl server as well and he is playing like there are no issues. So it's not "servers are full 1017" or it is? Just trying to get some clarification and find out if Square has said anything about it or a time frame. Thanks.
You should have said "recent launch", instead of setting yourself to look like a fool.You mean the original that was a decade ago when this kind of mass MMO was non existent? And every expansion was fixed in less then 36 hours and had 10x+ more players. That one? Comparing this launch to launch when the wheel was being invented is a fair comparison with a 10 year difference in knowledge / technology / programming. GTFO

Wish I was in Sanctuary or my room collecting rested xp. Instead I was in a Duty (error 90000) when the game kicked me over 24 hours ago. Have seen every error screen imaginable since then and still not able to get back in the game. Completely missed out on Early Access that I paid to have with my CE copy due to 1017 errors. At this point, I have categorized this game as the worst launch I have seen. I have beta tested and played MMO's for the last 10 years. I have never seen issues like this continue this long after a launch. At this point, I too am seriously reconsidering my subscription status for the future. As someone who is totally new to the world of Final Fantasy? I have to say this has been extremely disappointing to me.

I bet it's because we are spamming the character selection server like there was no tomorrow!
Filing for a refund on the game. Enough is enough and I can be patient for only so long.
hehe yes sim city was awfull ^^ thats why it went back to the stores as false advertisment and broken product :PHow sad. I really feel bad for Yoshi and the Development team. To think they basically redesigned a completely new MMO from the ground up in a short period of time, and actually delivered a game whose potential seems to be that of awesomeness, and then ... this happens.
Is there any way this could have been foreseen and prevented? @ poster above me... Sim City Online was pretty bad at launch.

I can understand that they made a mistake and allowed too many people to create characters on full servers, but some info would be nice, Like oh yes guys the NA servers will be down for the next 3 hours so try in 3 hours. But this silence and not knowing what is going on is the biggest problem I have with SE. It's always been like that since ff11 days and I hoped they would be more informative in ff14, but nope!
Can somebody explain to me how this unable to update the group NA/EU characters works? I mean I herd from people that they shut down the NA character server update and than open the JP one for some time, than they shut down the JP one and open the NA, so limit traffic on the character select screen, if this is true, where is the information showing when the next window will be for NA servers to be opened so I don't have to keep trying wasting my time.
