Makes sense to me. You got it. It's tabbing through monsters and seeing the unique name that makes claiming and defeating the monster rewarding. Kill a round of placeholders, you're anxiously waiting on the repop to see if the NM spawns, once the placeholders respawn the tension is released until the next respawn window when the cycle starts over again. Then, when you finally see the NM your adrenaline surges and you are either elated (victory!) or defeated (wiped/someone else got claim/no drop.) It's this elasticity of tension that makes for addicting gameplay. I hope S-E can somehow bring this to FFXIV.
