FFXIV Issues

I'm sure I'm not the only person who moved to FFXIV from another MMO. My guild and I moved to this game excited to start fresh and progress through the PvE content. The majority of my guild pre-ordered FFXIV A Realm Reborn, and were planning on joining our ally guild on the server Gilgamesh. However of our 47 members, only 27 were able to make it onto the server before the login issues and character creation limitations started. Some of our guildies went to other servers in the hopes of transferring to join us, and others have yet to play at all until Gilgamesh allows character creation once more. I'm curious if Square Enix is going to require players to pay to transfer now, considering that they were the reason members couldn't choose the servers of their choice to begin with. Are they going to have to pay for the problems caused by Square Enix?

chances are yes, you'll still end up having to pay for a server transfer (even though this is 100% SE's fault for lack of foresight). SE isn't exactly known for their superior customer service, quite the opposite actually. if by chance they do offer everyone a free 1 time server transfer, even if it has to be used before a specified date, i'd be utterly amazed...

I'm hoping they offer at least the one time character transfer, even if they limit it to a specific time frame. So far the guild leader and I have offered to pay for transfers to Gilgamesh for some of our locked out guildies, but depending on how expensive that gets we may only be able to afford so many. This is a disaster to say the least, I'd hope that they would try to compensate for their mistake a bit.

Even if they would just give current players a 75% discount on the transfer price that would be welcome.

All I know so far is that they are planning to start transfer services around mid September... I haven't seen anything mentioning the price for that service.

Ah well.. I guess anything up to £10 would be reasonable as far as I'm concerned. Anything over that would be a bit cheeky since it's probably all sorted out automatically anyway.

The point is that actual servers are overpopulated, so characters need to be moved to new servers to spit the population. So:
1) they'll ask every accoult holder to move a certain amount of characters
2) they'll move char by their own ( but following what rules?)
3) they'll delete some characters in each world to free space (creation order? other rules?)

Any ideas?
