[PC] Post your Ping! (how to test your connetion latency to the servers)

Hi I though it might be interesting to see what kind of latencies people from different parts of the world have to the FFXIV servers.

Here's what you need to do to test your ping to the servers:

1. Open the command prompt (cmd.exe)
2. type "netstat" (lists active network connections)*
3. type "ping IPaddresshere"

*IF you want your servers IP, you need to be logged ingame on your world. Also close all other applications such as the browser if you want to avoid those connections from showing under active connections.

If you just want to check your general connection to the NA/EU worlds, you can probably just use any NA/EU worlds IP and get the same result (all of the servers are located in Canada). So if you are lazy, just type in cmd "ping 199.91.189.40" (Moogle).

Here's an example:

In this picture I'm in lobby (since I'm atm getting the 10102 error, lol). That's why it's showing 124.150.157.158 here, I got the Moogle IP earlier when I was ingame...

So my result from Finland: 130ms

You may include additional info on your network connection if you want to.
I'm using wifi (good connection), ~6Mb dl, 0,70Mb ul (long phone lines...)

It shouldn't, though a fast fiber connection usually means you are pretty much enjoying the lowest ping you can get from your country. Then if you live in the countryside behind long phone lines with a slower connection, there ought to be some additional latency...

I used google maps "Durandal", are you from France?

Durandal is Legacy server on JP datacenter. Since he's from Singapore, that's why he has a low ping for it while having a high ping for Moogle (canadian DC).

sounds strange i get 76ms on the NA server
and i get 81ms on the EU server

its strange cuz i am in the UK and get better ping on a server thats for people 1/4 of the world away than i do on the sever thats ment for this area

Nothing strange here since NA & EU labeled servers are all in the same datacenter in Canada. EU labeled server are "recommended" for EU players but it doesn't mean they actually are in Europe.
