if you right click the name and select tell it will bring up their name for you to copy past (CTL C - CTL V). This should save you from having to type their name.

What they're doing is against the user agreement...what's the problem? Just boot em...I don't get it, why is it such a problem for them to just get rid of them.

I reported a few but then received this message. Basically, you're going to have to suck it up and it's not going away anytime soon. Personally, I would just /blist all that do this and not even report because it seems as if it's not going to matter how much you report them. See response below.
Thank you for taking the time to report RMT advertisements within the game.
We understand that it is frustrating to have these types of advertisements sent to you, since RMT can be disruptive both to chat and to the ability to enjoy the game. Unfortunately, due to the number of reports that we have received about this customer, a personal response is not possible at this time. Our efforts are being focused on investigating this advertiser, and preventing them from continuing to advertise in the game.
To help prevent further chat from this advertiser, we recommend using the blacklist, which can be accessed through the Social Lists menu (defaulted to hotkey O) > Blacklist > Add > Enter their name (case sensitive) or by typing /blist add Player Name (case sensitive, with the player’s name between quotation marks) into the chat box.
We encourage you to continue to submit tickets regarding RMT Spam. In your reports, if you have not done so, we ask that you include the name of the RMT Spammer in the Subject Line and an example of the spam you witnessed in the body of the ticket. We appreciate all the details you provide and thank you for your understanding during this time.
This is only meant to be a temporary resolution while we investigate, and you can remove them from your blacklist in the future once we have had time to complete our investigative process.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to create a more enjoyable and advertisement free environment for you to enjoy FINAL FANTASY XIV in.

also that they do not count to your 200 total for blacklist since i really do want to have a black list for people that are annoying. not the black list resulting in it being a list of gil sellers.
another thing that might be helpful is when you right click that name and report them as a gil seller that it records the text or the message as proof that you were getting something along that line.

Even automatically deleting the name from your blacklist once said character is eventually banned/deleted would be helpful.also that they do not count to your 200 total for blacklist since i really do want to have a black list for people that are annoying. not the black list resulting in it being a list of gil sellers.

Yes, I believe WoW had a "player no longer exists" when you logged in and that character....no longer existed.
Also, Yes. We need the ability to simply right click on the person's name and select "spamming". And also, Yes. We should not have our blacklist counted against. It should simply block all future messages automatically (once clicking spammer). And honestly, if the cap is truly 200 I would hope that SE would put in some things in place before I cap out the blacklist with spammers....In 5 years of playing wow, I probably only blocked 15-20 players total.
Blocking someone so that you don't see their text is burying your head in the sand.
What about those that do use these services and are ruining the economy in game. The sellers and botters will soon give up if a live GM banned 20 accounts in the space of an hour.

Disagree. ability to more easily block spammers is a quicker fix to help people enjoy the game. Hiring GMs takes awhile. We need it to be easier now while they are in the hiring process.

In other MMOs, there is a /report command that does exactly what you are describing. It was there in Everquest back in the late nineties, so the concept is not something new. At that time, it was simply to report harassing players. Gold sellers were not an issue. Today, the same command is used for both functions. However, given current UI capabilities, I would expect a right-click option to be standard.

BUMP! So much yes to this OP. Either they are spamming up the /yell or /shout chat box or sending me /tells every so often. You have to go out of your way report players like this and it should be much easier to do so. I do not understand why you cannot. Well we're on about this, I think there should be a "contact a GM" button somewhere.
SE please implement these things especially a way to add an option to the chat name click menu to report as a spammer/gil seller.
