I am not sure what a fisher could do, but i'm sure there are aquakin that they could take a swing at. It would also be a way for them to get some rare items in the game for us to gather. NM or HNM versions of mobs could be harvested from, and harvesting from them would do damage and debuff them. Just my two gils on the subject.
When I played Vanguard, they had this.

Group harvesting first off. This then was applied to group harvesting of NM corpse for items.
This could be applied, atleast for a single DoL player, as an ability to contribute to NM hunts.

This would also be a motivation for gear upgrades, if NM harvesting required exceptional stats, or the results were ultra-rare, so every single stitch of mats is invaluable.

As an active LS member who will have all DoL @ 50, my value to the NM hunt would be high, vs now, just camping spawns.

For now I just switch clesses.

It would be nice to simply swing a pickaxe against some irritating aggro mobs well below my level. I can't imagine what kind of balance issues would be created by added significant damage to Miner. I suppose if noSP is rewarded for killing mobs then it would work. Still, you would have to write damage into DoL tools. Really jsut switching classes works in the rare instance you get an aggro while mining.

They already adjusted mob ranges around mining points. I haven't gotten an aggro while actively mining since.

A goobue walked directly past me, you seem to be somewhat invisible while mining now.
