What is causing the servers to be over popped is there are hundreds if not thousands of players in all parts of the world that are visible (not including the ones in their inn rooms) that are just sitting afk while they go to sleep, go to work, do chores and the like and sitting there, because they don't want to deal with the pain of having to try to log in 50-100 times spending 10-20 minutes of constantly cycling through login screens.

    Seriously SE Implement an AFK Timer, No other MMOs don't have one, Even F2P ones have afk timers. FPS's have Timers. I can't think of an online server based game that doesn't that has succeeded.

    Ultimately, what is going to happen after their "upgrade" is everyone is gonna try to make a server on their preferred server and SE is going to see the same thing again, because people will still stay logged in for 12+ hours at a time and being afk for the grand majority of it.

    As much as I agree, it's not so simple in this game. The problem is that the game allows for the creation of macros with included delay timers. So people could just set up a series of macros to prevent any anti-afk system from kicking in. They'd have to set up an anti-afk system that allowed the game to differentiate player generated actions from macro generated actions for it to cover all the bases.

    That may be easier then you might think, most commands start with "/" or some other symbol to differentiate from speech. it may be easy to indicate that the afk timer will ignore these commands as they will not indicate play or non-play. Put up a message that states you will be kicked in 1 minute for afk, and if they don't jump/move or otherwise engage the game like any other MMO then it kicks them. That not only helps combat botting, but also allows login.

    *edit* Option 2:

    2nd option would be to ignore actions and base afk off of movement and/or jumping.
