    I'm starting to see a trend in community reps' replies. A worrying one.
    Especially with this problem, since it's really something that clearly should not happen as it doesn't with any other game out there except for XI and some games infected with GameGuard (like PSU).

    As for people suggesting workarounds, they are fine for the moment, but why should we have to use 3rd party tools or disable OS features just because SE can't handle an exception/error call properly?

    Its a textbook example of what happens when you get a Lost Device in Direct X 9. There are only so many API calls that can be made since its Direct X based so its pretty clear that the error stems from this.

    Yep, thanks for finding the exact link. I knew it must be something like that.

    The fix should be fairly trivial, instead of throwing the error when you loose the device, call the proper reset operations when the device is restored and reload the data back into memory then continue on your merry way.
    Logical, no? Instead we get people screaming this is not possible because of engine limitations. If an engine developed by a major corporation fails at alt-tabbing while my simple DX experiments do not, then there really is something wrong.
