I worked with all DX and even the modified PS3 OGL, it's not bot prevention so much as is it needing to port the game to the PS3, they don't seem to work on absolutely separate versions of the game, since XI even crashed on alt+tab and it was a straight port from the PS2 with very little changes to it core.I fail to understand how this can "take some time to address." You alt-tab out of FFXIV, your D3DDevice returns D3DERR_DEVICELOS. So for whatever reason, SE throws a windows error to crash your game. Bot prevention? Who knows. Anyways, alt-tab back in, D3D is smart enough to recognize it needs to reacquire itself for it's rendering calls. Remove the damn error call. Solved. I work with DirectX9, and i've never seen something this stupid.
You can turn window snapping off in your computer settings. You can then drag the window past it's border out of frame. For me when I play in windowed mode it pushes the bottom portion of my screen down to show the Final Fantasy XIV border at the top. When I try to raise it up so I can see the full screen the border just resets and pushes the screen back down.
This is why I hate playing in windowed mode but if I don't I will have to idle at certain points while playing instead of surfing the web.
Yea, I have to agree. This is the only game I have played since FF11 that doesn't allow fullscreen mode. How much time is this going to take? It has been 11 years since FF11 came out, how much more damned time do you guys need?
i did that for days it does not hide the top borders the 3 party make it look 100% full screen and it easy to set up.

Dear lord SE,
MAKE.
FULL SCREEN.
WINDOWED.
AN OPTION.
Problem solved.
See its also not just alt-tab thats broken, I was playing in windowed mode and decided to let VLC do its update while I played, when it popped up a user account control dialog XIV lost focus and gave the same direct X error, this needs to be fixed ASAP.

Bayohne, you are amazing. Thank you for putting out the info when you get it. It's a nice change from how SE was with XI
I'm starting to see a trend in community reps' replies. A worrying one.
Especially with this problem, since it's really something that clearly should not happen as it doesn't with any other game out there except for XI and some games infected with GameGuard (like PSU).
As for people suggesting workarounds, they are fine for the moment, but why should we have to use 3rd party tools or disable OS features just because SE can't handle an exception/error call properly?
Yep, thanks for finding the exact link. I knew it must be something like that. You don't have to work with the source of something to see what the problem is. The error is that it can't detect direct X devices.
Its a textbook example of what happens when you get a Lost Device in Direct X 9. There are only so many API calls that can be made since its Direct X based so its pretty clear that the error stems from this.

Logical, no? Instead we get people screaming this is not possible because of engine limitations. If an engine developed by a major corporation fails at alt-tabbing while my simple DX experiments do not, then there really is something wrong. The fix should be fairly trivial, instead of throwing the error when you loose the device, call the proper reset operations when the device is restored and reload the data back into memory then continue on your merry way.
