Why don't people use windowed mode and set the resolution to their monitor resolution?

Thats why I'm doing and it works quite nicely.

That's what I do as well and it does work very well. I've heard that running true fullscreen ups your FPS though?

I use this too and i've never had a problem with it. It is great because it feels like I am playing full screen, but at the same time I can minimize the game to look at the lodestone, vent server, forums, etc.

For me when I play in windowed mode it pushes the bottom portion of my screen down to show the Final Fantasy XIV border at the top. When I try to raise it up so I can see the full screen the border just resets and pushes the screen back down.

This is why I hate playing in windowed mode but if I don't I will have to idle at certain points while playing instead of surfing the web.

You can turn window snapping off in your computer settings. You can then drag the window past it's border out of frame.
