Can you confirm whether or not the use of programs like AutoHotkey or ShiftWindow will be allowed to create a full screen borderless window until it is officially implemented?

Problem is we want a full screen because it give us more FPS even if you use that you still in windower mode so you not getting that great FPS you would have in Real full screen mode.
Here the file and everything you may need for this.

Don't know if mod would edit but hope most get it before that.

On my setup (Dual ATI 5750's) its very noticeable, I can play full screen at 1920x1080 just fine with details cranked up pretty high with multiple anti-aliasing. Windowed mode I have to drop down to 1680x1050 and further reduce detail and aliasing settings, and I still chug quite a bit. In tandem these cards were good performance per dollar when I bought them but individually they are not great.I don't know how this change ranks among the devs (I won't assume), but if it is not a very time intensive change, should really be a high priority item. Removing the borders in windowed mode would as good to me.
To those running a dual GPU set up, how much performance difference are you seeing between windowed and full screen modes? I don't recall seeing any benches for it recently, just curious.
Thats good to hear, I wish they would implement this ASAP, its really a MAJOR inconvenience for us with dual graphics cards, especially considering the amount of information that you have to pull from outside the game to effectively play it. At least it sounds like they are not going to continually ignore the issue.

Interestingly, direct x 10 and beyond don't suffer from this problem.

Then your developers suck and they need to be fired. It takes others less then 20 minutes to implement this for this game, but it takes your developers "time"... please Bayohne stop giving the company line like Sony is doing with the PSN network get some hard answers and get back to us. The "time" excuse only works for so long, if 1.18 is not a drop dead fantastic patch SE can kiss a lot of its playerbase goodbye that I can almost assure you.

Well. That doesn't sound too bad. I'd like to also add that to myself as a player this would be a great feature and even though there might be more important stuff planned now I want to make sure that this isn't something that gets cut at some point. Even if it takes awhile, please, please, please add a way to ALT+TAB from full screen and back.
The huge amount of performance lost when running the game in a window is simply unacceptable.
On my PC it's I can run the game in 1920x1080, all setting on high/very high, no AA, no Ambient Occlusion, at 60fps, or run the game windowed at 1280x720 with settings slightly lowered at 15-25fps.
The fact that I'm forced to lower settings to get worse performance to a deal breaker. One of the many reasons I bought XIV was to experience state of the art graphics and sound presentation.
A quick note/tip to anyone that wants to use true fullscreen mode for the added performance but wanted the ability to use a web browser at the same time. Installing Steam and making XIV use the steam overlay integration works wonders. Steam chat+voice chat and a bare Google Chrome based browser.

How the hell does something so simple take so much time to implement. It's 2011 people!

DO you know about programming in Dx9? have you ever tried to port a games engine to a later version of Dx? if the answer is no to any of these, then you cant say its simple because you just dont know, there is no allow alt-tab fullscreen=true command in the programming to just change.

There's a step-by-step manual on M$ homepage how to port software written in cpp from DX9 to DX10/11 :PDO you know about programming in Dx9? have you ever tried to port a games engine to a later version of Dx? if the answer is no to any of these, then you cant say its simple because you just dont know, there is no allow alt-tab fullscreen=true command in the programming to just change.

Why don't people use windowed mode and set the resolution to their monitor resolution?
Thats why I'm doing and it works quite nicely.
