    Damage Over Time - Uptime Problems

    Currently the DOT system appears to have a problem.

    If you buff an attack that lands a DOT (Blood for Blood with Chaos Thrust) and later try to re-apply the DOT after Blood for Blood has faded, the new DOT will not apply as it has a lower potency.

    A WHM in our Binding Coil of Bahamut group has also pointed out that on occasion he will Divine Seal + Regen the Tanks and from that point on be unable to refresh Regen on us until the old one has worn off.

    I believe that overriding a stronger DOT with a weaker DOT should be down to player and not a preventative design mechanic. Please give players an option to override strong DOT's should it be required as this is causing a disjoint in combat rotations.

    I'm having the same problem as a SMN, I always try to initiate my boss fights with raging strikes but if I can't apply the dots when they are about to fade I think I lose a bit of dps.

    As a SMN, here are the DoT issues:

    1. I will apply Bio II, Miasma, Bio then spread those DoTs using Bane at some point, whether immediately or after a few secs for agro issues.
    -- A. Problem here is Bane will spread the DoTs, but it will NOT give full timers when spread. It is spreading the same timers. So if the 3 timers have 4 secs left then it spreads 3 Dots to all mobs for 4 seconds. It should apply FRESH timers to all effected mobs. Noone wants to waste an Aetherflow just to spread DoTs that are not going to have full duration.

    -- B. In addition, I feel that Bane's "additional effect" should be cumulative. Therefore, if you have 3 Aetherflows up, then you should have a 45% chance of having those DoTs refresh automatically. Alongside that, I feel the.. (5yard radius?) of spreading dots can be doubled. I've seen mobs up on the tank melee'ing him. I'd spread the DoTs only to tab thru and missed 1 of the 3.

    Only 1000 characters allowed in a post so here is my completion of the above post:


    Consider this: With a well built and geared tank who knows how to do his job, I can immediately apply Bane for full DoT Timers on a group of mobs. However, these are far and few in Duty Finder Pugs. So I am losing that much needed Dps, because I cannot afford to DoT more than one mob at a time or I am pulling agro off the baddie tanks.

    Compound that issue with the fact that now if I am to give the tank time to build his AE agro, when I do use Bane I have to refresh all 3 timers then finally use Bane. This comes out to what... 15-20ish seconds into a trash pull of 3 mobs? Trash tends to be dead by that time when grouped with other classes and I end up hoping that it is my pet that is contributing more than I just did.
