I both agree and disagree. I strongly enjoy variety in my choices from weapons to armor sets. However variation in weapons would largely be a cosmetic change in the game. You don't really rely on auto-attack the way you would in other MMOs so decisions like picking a faster striking, higher DPS weapon or a slower striking but higher base damage weapon aren't as critical. In most respects you'll be sticking with high damage weapons so your various skills deal maximum damage where weapon delay isn't a factor.

Still, I really do miss the weapon system from FFXI where I could use one of many different weapons on a single class. You weren't always effective with them, but you could still opt to use them if you really wanted. In the end, I don't see weapon variations hitting the game except to introduce new jobs and classes.
