    Out of all the MMOs out there, I thing it's fair to say that almost none of them has a single weapon type restriction. In fact I'd venture to say that it's a minority where only one weapon is allowed to be equipped. I really hope that SE will consider and improve the weapon system by perhaps allowing players to have more than one weapon choice per class as well as more than one equipped with an option to switch. This will definitely enhance our play experience and add more dynamic and uniqueness to the play-style and role of participation with our Avatars.

    I wonder, are you factoring Gladiators can use Swords,daggers?
    Conj can use Staffs and wands
    Thau can use Rods and clubs

    Given time and new job classes (considering the game kinda just released)
    they will most likely add more

    This. The game just came out and is using what we have as a foundation for future classes and jobs. I'm sure they'll get around to rapiers, greatswords, whips, guns and so on.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
