Fatal Directx error code 10000

I press play and it says fatal direct x error code 10000 or something.
All my graphics card drivers are up to date.

could my graphics card be just to old? It's a nvidia xp/2000 display model. I know I shouldn't use XP and all that but just tell me if it is or isn't my graphics card.

Also, as a small favor, a scan on my cpu said that my 1.5 gb of ram can be expanded to 4, anyone know what it meant?

Currently the game is running on Direct X 9.0 so it might just be a net code issue until they upgrade it.
