Greetings everyone, I hope you have had success in playing FFXIV:ARR. (If not I am sorry to hear it). Any who I recently got to 50 with my Warrior, I completed my class quests up to getting the chest armor (I think that may be the end but since I don't have the weapon I'd assume I'm missing something, a relic reborn maybe?)

Alas I am stuck! I know that the AF armor isn't the best, I see that the crafted heavy Darksteel gear is better, along with the darklight, and then of course the Behemoth and Odin gear. I know these are out there but where do I start, any insight and direction would be greatly appreciated by both myself and I'm sure the many others having this question.

Currently 50 with AF armor, need to know which armorset to go for next and how to achieve that, thank you.

ALSO before I forget, what can I do with the AF armor. The highest instance I have completed with it so far as been Aurum Vale, learning the fights was the hard part.

Darklight gear just run GM over and over again

From here you have two paths....

Go for AF Weapon

or

Move on to collecting Tier 1 Tomestones for Darklight gear then once you get the Darklight set you move onto AF2 Armor set or Allagan set

Currently AF2 Armor and Allagan set are two of the most powerful gear sets in the game with equal Defense stats but have different stat bonuses.

Finish the story quest. You should have access to two level 50 dungeons and Ifrit hard mode after that.

Ideally you should run Wanderer's Palace a few times to hopefully get some Vermillion gear. (As well as some tomestones of philosophy to be used toward darklight.) When you have a few key pieces of Vermillion gear you should move up to Amdapor Keep where you should start finding Hoplite gear. (And both tomestones of philosophy and mythology, the latter of which is used for the higher grade AF pieces.)
