I haven't seen a real boss a pet can tank since before lv32. On titan it'll get knocked off the cliff. I forget the name of the last dungeon I did, but it's the one where you fight the giant statue boss. On that one the pet won't get out of the lasers at the main boss. On one of the minibosses my pet wouldn't stand in the squares. On the dragon in Brayflox the pet will stand in the breath attack and in the poison and won't move the dragon out of it. Etc, etc. Exactly which lv32+ boss can a pet tank? Maybe there's a few minibosses, but I really doubt it'll be able to tank any main bosses anymore.

I completely agree! Which is why the third part in my post is:

Lastly, and this relates back to my first point, but please follow the order in which the targets are marked.

One thing That I like for the healer and dps to do for me when I tank is to give me a moment to mark targets (unless we are going by alphabet) And then from there give me 6-7 seconds of solely me attacking and gaining hate and the healer popping a cure or 2 if necessary. That way I have a good bit of hate built up for sure and also if the DPS makes sure they are flanking the mobs as they appear it makes things exponentially better.

That is pretty nice, yes - I've noticed that people tend to wait until I've popped Flash before they run in (which I'm happy with).

Just dropping in to put in a vote for a sticky.
This thread really needs a sticky.

I am glad my instinct to run ahead and start the attacks as the tank to gain the focus and to light off several Flashes is a good way to start. It helps that many players seem to know how to work with this all and work together and support each other. It is a fun way to enjoy this remarkable game. I agree about a sticky but we can in the meantime keep this thread active for it is really helpful for a key part of the game.

Don't be a jerk should be added in there somewhere.

If you anger/trash-talk your tank (or healer too), good luck completing your dungeon. Have fun waiting for Duty Finder to match you or forming a new party on your own respective server.

I'm going to assume people who are looking at this thread and take my advice aren't the type to trash-talk. In my experience, people who do trash-talk are usually confused pseudo-elitists who think they know the game like the back of their hand, but in actuality are the reason the party keeps wiping.

OK i thought about this for a while but decided to ask. Is it possible for some of the veteran players here to do a short list of what to expect and aim at in the first four dungeons. I expect we can and should be able to get along ourselves after that but I would love to have a short laundry list of the major bosses, and possible tricks or twists to expect in just the first four. Dont need a huge walk through or think it is appropriate. but among us Tanks it might be very nice to have this so that we can do our best as I know we all want to. My greatest fear is letting the team down, i will do whatever I can to get us thru, but it is hard at times to see where to go and what to expect and for instance there was a boss in one of the first dungeon rooms that started running all over the place when he was about 60 % damages. I could not get a lock on him to make him mad at me and he refused to fight me when i was able to land some blows. I now have the shield throw but it was a tough spot and I died once over him and his antics. We were able to finish and the team was very nice to me and i did my best for them.

There is something called "the Nail" in one of the early dungeons that evidently is very deadly and it helped a lot just to know that. Still dont know what it is. .but i will now know to look for it.

So if this is possible would be great, if not that is cool too. Very much appreciate all the help here has given me a lot more hope and some confidence too, but I do plan to practice a lot of this stuff in FATES when i can get back in before i try another dungeon, i think i was pretty lucky in the first one

finally one question about targetting and the side bars of the enemies.

Is there an order to how they appear to the left side of the screen..the agro bars?

    is the boss first?

Are the enemies listed by alphabet in order of strength or just random?

ie is BOSS ONE given A

    Sub Boss TWO given B....

and the helpers and minions down the list?

or is there another order? i have seen people reccomend just targeting by the alphabet but i was not sure if that would cover the boss too or where they will be? it is hard to target once the fight starts and there are enemeis all over the place. I had that problem in some of the story guests, one where we have to face about 15 enemies with a party of five on my side and i was supposed to target some Mages but i had no idea how to find them....and they kept getting me first.

thanks for any tips on this.
