I understand the case of horrid connection, but there's really nothing to blame for that but your plan. I had a bad WLAN for six months, and in early beta was cut out almost every hour. I'm glad that I have this one now, where I get the full connection. As for the rewarding yourself, I fear that you have two options:
I. Spam the "connect" button.
II. Hold out and waste some play time on something else.

It's not a Real-time strategy, we don't need to use every second.
