    Letter of Encouragement!

Hey folks! I only created an account on these boards so I could post this message.

With all of the struggles that the server issues have had due to the sheer volume of players that decided to pick up the game, and with how hard the development team is working to get the servers back online while dealing with a PR nightmare, I want to write a letter of encouragement to the development team, Yoshi-P especially, who seemed to be just as frustrated with the issues as the rest of us are.

Can we put all of our anger at the situation aside and generate that into something positive?

I want to write this letter, and even though I could easily do that myself, I want to know just how many of you would sign that letter along with me. Every person who helps me with this letter brings even more support to the developer teams.

Who's with me on this? Can we encourage the developers and cheer them on as they fix these issues?

Tell ya what, I'll cheer them on when they actually fix the problems. For now, I've got a game that has been paid for that I can not use with servers that seem to consist of 4 low-tier E-machines kept together with spit and bailing wire. I'm as patient as the next guy, but eventually something's gotta give.

You say that you'll cheer them on when they fix the problems? Maybe I'm cynical of the cynicism, but I bet you that, out of every single person complaining about these issues, only about 10% of them will actually give thanks to the development team when they're done. 90% won't even thank the developers, some of which will theorize about how they caused the servers to crash deliberately.

I've been in too many MMO communities to honestly believe that the dev team will get any cheers from its community except from the small minority, who actually see that the developers care about their product, put in a hell of a lot of hard work every single day to make absolutely sure everything works, and go largely unthanked for their hard work.

That is not to say that this is a minor imperfection, this is a big deal. But if their hard work on this critical issue isn't deserving of the community to cheer them on as they work on it, then when is that time?

I'm with the OP! Complaining sure isn't going to help anything, so I wish the Dev team good luck and as always I'll be offering my support along with the rest of the crowd that doesn't get involved with these forums due to what they are at the moment. Hope everything goes well with the new server implementations.

Thanks comes in the form of a monthly sub which they are not as of yet earning...

I've paid for a collector's edition and I have not paid for a sub yet because I'm still on trial period, though I do intend to.

And this isn't expressing thanks. Thanks comes after the work, not before. This is for encouragement, letting the developers know that we support them still.

I don't think the buyers of a certain companies product should give thanks after they purchase it. Usually it is the other way around. When people buy a companies product they expect it to work. Once it works I'll be glad it's working. I'm not going to thank them for fixing it. It sounds like you're wanting to thank them for all the issues too because without those you wouldn't be able to thank them without them correcting the problems.

Encouraging them is fine, but if they're too busy working on it I doubt they have time to be reading it and don't act like people who are displeased or whatever are at fault here and should be grateful to a company who's product they purchased with their own money should be thankful once this is fixed.
