    Hate seems weak with provoke.

Is it just me or is provoke a joke.

With its long cooldown I try and save it for those oh shit moments but even then it is rare that it stops the mob from attacking another player. I want the provoke we had in FFXI. 30 sec cooldown and it made the enemy attack you no matter what. They had no choice but to look at you. With its long cooldown This games provoke should also be a 100% hate pull.

provoke matches your hate to the target who has the current highest hate on the mob. think its something like current highest threat value + 1 or something like that.

I don't think so. If that was the case they would turn to me and not keep running after the healer. Even if it set my hate to match theirs it should still come at me because I am still attacking it after that and the healer is running. The only explanation I can think of is it gives a set amount of hate and it is low.

Provoke puts you ONE ENMITY ahead of the current player being attacked. So if you use it and the other player is using an attack, spell or whatever he will get hate right back. It's meant to give you the edge in case you die (and start over at zero enmity), or a mob breaks out and you need to make it come back. To maintain hate you need to use Shield Lob, Flash or whatever right after Provoke or it's useless.

Enough testing has been done and it is confirmed. You can think what you want but that's how Provoke works.

Gumbercules is correct, voke sets your enmity to highest+1. Follow with Shield Lob or Tomahawk immediately to get hate back, if the healer so much as farts the mob will be back on them right after voke. Also the FFXI provoke worked by adding a set amount of volatile enmity, nothing like what you described.

Gumbercules is right. With the global cool down being what it is, what happens is: healer takes aggro with big cure, you provoke and have to wait for the GCD to be done to follow up with a high enmity attack but in that time the healer could have potentially taken aggro back with another big heal. Alos keep in mind HoT's and DoT's, when you taunt milliseconds later the HoT or DoT will trigger giving the other player aggro back. Simple fix: provoke doesn't trigger the GCD.

follow provoke with another hate gaining ability.

The idea is support tanks staying in tow. Some tanks will not be able to afford a chance to have the enemy face them without it. Other tanks will have no use for it besides saving the other tank.
