sooo... let me get this straight.. you are comparing a game that launched in 2004 to one that relaunched in 2013 when technology and networking has advanced leaps and bounds ahead of 2004? Seems legit...World of Warcrafts Launch was as/more disasterous then this, they compensated players with 48 hours free play, sadly enough that didnt bury WoW.

not really, you were able to log into the servers and while ya at one point i know dalaran early early during release had crashed for a few days they reimbursed us both with play time missed while servers where down and rested experience. SE is only contemplating reimbursing 7 days of play time, as well servers are locked to new players, since about 5 or 6 days ago? the servers may well have just crashed instead of whats going on atm. this is ongoing to and not for seen to be much more then a simple bandaid fix since there adding some new clusters to the servers in place rather then add more servers atm.World of Warcrafts Launch was as/more disasterous then this, they compensated players with 48 hours free play, sadly enough that didnt bury WoW.

its a problem that could have been easily for seen. and prepared for. it wont matter at the end of the month though. they wont need more servers because people will have just given up.
plus when the servers were up they always had queues not 1017. also it wasn't all your country's servers you could log into a rp or pvp server and play more often then not.

Ya, I'd say Relic/tomestones was a bad choice of examples to use for compensation. The best kind of compensation that "could" work is offering those xp boost GC items through the mail service. Maybe 2 of each, DOL, DOW and DOH so then players can regain lost time through means of increased xp boost, allowing them to spend less time leveling and maybe skipping some quest to go through main story, as well as allowing them to lv DoL/DoH a tad quicker to make up for said lost time.
Personally I think extra days of playtime is a very decent form of compensation.
Or better yet, let's just mark all quests completed. People would really love all that there is to do in the game after that, right?Well they are only considering a free week after their update to fix on Wednesday(still why not just do it now, it cannot get much worse), but can there be multiple package choices, a free week of an update that may not help at all is ok, but I want something that is guaranteed to help me and maybe others advance. How about something like a free relic voucher or maybe 2k tomestones or something that is as I said an actual progress step as seeing most players cannot get on making them feel like they did not miss out on what work they could have done, to me seems like a better option than just a free week.
Edit: stop thinking the idea was for those items, it was more of the concept of something more beneficial and tangible than a week of play time.

Meh. Can't log on? Big deal. There's more to life. Go do something else and play when you can. A free week more than makes up for the login issues.
It's not that easy. It's a holiday weekend and this is one of the greatest MMOs of recent years. I'm willing to bet you're already logged in and DON'T understand just how painful it is to not be able to play.
they are a big company and you accepted they EULA of FF14, by rights they dont have to give us anything. be thankful for what little we get anyway, world of warcraft has never given such things to players....
So then why does my WoW account shows a couple weeks worth of uncharged days in compensation for server downtime during the first year or 2 of service?
Because your talking out of your ass.
actually it doesnt, 1st day WoW release they had problems like this, it wasnt until closer to the 1st Addon that they gave compo... so you are actually speaking out your arse as my job is to play and test games that are not even out yet, being a nerd IS my profession, i get paid to wait in que
