Nope, unfortunately you can't. For example if you want to have Carbuncle cast Backdraft while you're in the middle of casting Ruin or Miasma it will tell you that you can't do that while casting. You need to tell Carbuncle to use Backdraft before you start casting another spell.

By the way I agree completely with everything on the first page, summoner does seem gimped. BLM is at least equal in power but it doesn't have to deal with nearly an advanced rotation as SMN, not to mention SMN has to manage pet aswell and the rotation involving that.
I think the duration of the DOTS should be increased for easier management. Especially miasma 2 and bio 1, I have to recast them so much if I want to keep them up that its hard to do anything else

The OP posted is very true.
As an end game Summoner, we deal SIGNIFICANTLY less Damage/Damage Over Time than all the other DPS classes. In end game dungeon, we just couldn't deal enough damage to down bosses successfully, it makes the whole Dungeon much harder to do for the whole group, we are basically DRAGGING the team down.
The thing that is ruining us mostly is the Global Cooldowns, the DoTs all share the same cooldown so we pretty much take like 8-10 seconds to fully stack up our DoTs. Our main nuke spell Ruin II is incredibly weak, it deals the same damage as the White Mage's (Healer) equivalent spell... Not only that, our pet's deal jack all damage, they do not respond while we are casting our spells and their spells are just rubbish...
The DoTs do not even tick per second, it takes longer than 1 second for each tick to deal damage...

So just as a question for you endgame summoners, what's your intelligence rating at?
well reading all through this thread makes me laugh a bitsmn isnt bad at all, but petlogic sometimes hurts my ass, especially if ure applying dots and wanna move pet/obey pet gcd/animation makes it impossible.
i am currently using 9 buttons on my mouse + 14 extra keybinds, wow thats fucking much, smn is a fingerbreaking bitch ^^ dunno if other classes do need such an amount of bindings, but that brings smn to a point, not all ppl can use its full potential!
but back to topic:
- cast dots suck the hell, i dont really remeber how often i had to cancel them coz of boss abilites. thats a great loose of dmg and time, especially the dots have different timers of lasting on the target. so u need to take a really sharp eye watching dot times for fester and for the garuda pet to refresh them right in time. dont forget that if ure switching targets and dont reobey pet on boss, ure refreshspell is gone for nothing -.- dont know why pet doenst auto stay on obey, even after switch ...
- aoe, well bane is a n1 spell but in aoe intensive fights, like garuda hm, its really hard to time the dot uptime and then instant fester them. we also need at least 1 stack of aetherflow to bane, in this is that makes our aoe sucking as hell! put bane of aetherflow would make us more viable, we need aetherflow anyway for mana or fester. misma II is really fine for aoe, but u need to go melee to hit all mobs and this gonna makes the spell worse then anything else. i wonder if it would have been that hard to desing this ability as an aoe with 25y from the target applied?

mostly i use ruin II, even its manacosts are expensive, coz its instant and like said before, most bosses dont let u the time just standing like a turret and spamming ruin/dots. theres a lot of movement required in any boss encounter, thats gonna rapes our ass hard! the blind maybe n1, but in raids u will have a loladin with flash, recently makes ruin II useless.
My INT is as high as it can get atm >_> and my pet is still stupid weak.
Yesterday I wanted to show off Inferno for my grp in a raid, but a BLM casted Flare on the same target and literally consumed my spell animation XD
Pets do not scale off of the Summoner's stats, which is a problem that will need to be addressed as eventually the pet just will not be worth it.
I tested this by taking off all my gear and the pet did the same damage.

I have not run into overall DPS problems. Summoners do have occasional problems with quick-bursting adds, but I have never run into a fight I could not do as a Summoner. The debuff limit on mobs will have to be fixed or Summoners won't have a place in 24 mans, but overall most of the things I think Summoners need are QoL, like being able to move pet while casting. Shadow Flare being 2.5s I would also like to see, but the spell is good, anyway.

I see. My mistake. I still feel like the pet's damage is fine, aside from Enkindle being a dumb ability. I understand why people might want the pet to be more than an autoattack and DoT extender, though.
