    Are you serious? Assuming you're using Ifrit, commanding the pet to attack the tonberry adds still takes longer than a BLM due to Ifrit's travel time.

    @keeve: every thread I see you post, you fanatically defend SMN in its current form. May I ask you; are you hired by SE themselves? :P
    Also SMN needs to be reworked:

    -the pets look like something a part-time intern did during his break, not only are they just slighty bigger than vanity pets, but they look utter ****. (And don't give me that "they are essence" ****, no where does that dictate that they have to look pathetic.
    -Our dmg takes way to long to catch up, in endgame raids, I'M always in the lower end when it comes to dmg, by a big margin. The AOE range on Bane and Enkindle is stupid small. My 300sec OMFGoodness ulti pet ability literally gets outshined by a Flare on a 2.5gcd.... Not only that, but the dmg is lower than Flare, even with Pet dmg buffs. I've experienced that ppl actually didn't want me in there raid grp, since my dmg was low. I don't even want to talk about my pet dmg.. its embarrassing.

    Are you? Are you familiar with BLM/THM at all? Do you know what UI is? Do you know how much that hinders doing any sort of real damage? Both BRD and DRG are better at more sustained adds, which is what TK is about. SMN is right behind them in sustained AoE DPS(SMN does more AoE DPS, but it can't sustain it like DRG/BRD due to Aetherflow stacks and MP concerns), with BLM being the "burst" AoE DPSer.

    No, I just don't want the class to be buffed because of bad/sub-par players, and then have it be OP and nerfed back down.

    -I literally like the way they are designed. The Garuda-Egi model, and effects, are one of the best in the game IMO. This is an opinion.

    -It takes roughly 15-20s to "catch up" and then we are sustained at that DPS throughout, unlike other jobs. Especially with being ranged.

    -Flare is not that good of an ability, and certainly isn't used in a single target rotation. We can use Enkindle for ST or AoE. People keep comparing it to Flare, where Flare is actually a pretty bad ability. Spamming Fire II is better for AoE until low MP, then use Flare.


    -Pet damage is roughly ~30% of your player damage. I'm fine with this. I like the way the class is. That's why I picked it up, it closely resembles Engineer from WAR. I know a lot of people aren't fine with this, and that's their opinion. They want the pet to be the "main show."

    Because, *GASP*, BLM can't always put out burst AoE, and if any of the mobs live for ~15-20 seconds we end up doing more AoE. That was why I went on the tangent of asking about BLM, and their rotations. You can't just continually AoE as a BLM.

    Yeah, someone is going on my ignore list. Going on a tangent about sustained AoE when the issue discussed is burst dispatching of groups is a sure way to not waste my time.

    I'm getting really tired of players under 50 making comments on the state of summoner in end game. While it's true our damage isn't horrific, we could use a boost on either our pets or ourselves. We take forever to get our "Burst" spell ready. I've played both sides of arcanist in some of these dungeons and I can say without a doubt the fights were easier without a summoner. I love the class and still intend to keep it my main but I have no doubt I'm going to have a hard time getting into some of the harder fights (Garuda/Titan Hard etc) until something changes. I also have to agree that Enkindle needs some massive changes. The recast and damage it does is very unappealing.

    I agree, SMN needs a bit of shorten cast time, IE, MISMA, BIO2

    On the fact of long term battle I feel like we are amazing. Anything with 8 man. However 4 man teams when we need to burn enemies down quickly... is almost impossible..... I've done it... but it's such a struggle. Wanders palace when you need to nuke the slimes becomes really hard....

    Bane needs a radius boost... I feel like it's ineffective when there are more mobs then 6..... It might hit 2 out of the six...

    I'm fine with the pets. I haven't really had an issues with them

    TRI DISASTER!!!!! lolol... is great.... with swift cast.... so i don't really see to much of a problem here.

    Also, I feel that we are invaluble with are insta- raise when doing ifirt or garuda because sometimes a WHM does die also and I've had to raise them many times.

    Just my thoughts... SMN is good but for dungeons that require us to get that BURST damage... No we fall short... Amazing DD on single target bosses.

    This is the first time I see a dot class take so long to place dots on a mob. Miasma and Bio2 takes way 2 long to cast, I mean way to long. There is no reason that dots should take as long to cast as a instant dmg spell. If they want to keep the casting time on dots as they are, then they should at least increase the initial dot dmg. As far as ruin, I can understand that we rely on our pets dmg but it wouldnt hurt to increase the dmg just a little bit. As far as pet control, this needs to be fixed asap. The pet sometimes keep attacking mobs even when you tell him to chill, the change of pet stances (att/not att) takes sometimes a while and the pet sometimes even fallows mobs that have retreated as part of the dungeon. I'm the only one dissapointed with runic weapons? I mean I understand we use books, but with so many cool weapons I think ours should add some time of cool effect, like add armor to pets, glow to our character I dont know something.

    I think unless a change is made to the way DoTs function (2.5 GCD) and the pet bar functions (Why can't we give them commands whenever we want, it hurts their utility) I'm going to go with Scholar until some changes are made.
