    The Battle System current and the future.

    I know the current battle system is getting changed a lot over the next few patches but here are my concerns of the battle system and what I hope gets accomplished by the "revamp"

    The current battle system lacks the fluid aspect, I don't feel like the battles are heroic in anyway. I find the system is just a bunch of people spamming until the mobs are dead. The stat system must be addressed along with the battle revamp because stats are just a giant mess right now, stats make a very minimal impact on combat at the moment.

    FFXIV allows the player to "sidestep" certain TP moves by mobs, I like this aspect because it is unique but its implementation is bad because your character is locked down during attack/spell casting animations, you're not able to move during weapon skills, this is a big big problem which goes back to it not being fluid enough for a modern day MMO.

    The stamina gauge is just too limiting, it hinders the player and disrupts the pace of combat. Combat should be fast paced, fluid where you can move freely, heroic, and meaningful. Players should be thinking quickly and staying on their toes while in combat while trying to avoid damage from nasty tp moves.

    The combat awareness needed in this game is just very lacking. I remember in many interviews in the past leading up to the alpha testing it was said that "orientation is everything while in combat, distance from mob, having to move." This sounded great but there are things that make doing that very limited and must be addressed in the revamp.

    I am a little concerned about auto-attack if the rules are left unchanged, like I said earlier, your character is stuck in place during attacking/spell casting animations then there is the stamina issue, how is it going to work? I am hoping this is all being taken into serious consideration because I just don't see it working well unless the rules are re-done.

    I am sure you guys have heard this thread a 1000 times, I am looking forward to the revamp. I really hope that at the end of the day we will see a fluid, heroic combat system in FF14 that does the game true justice that brings it into modern day MMO standards. I know it can be done because of how good the combat system was in FF13.

    The XIII battle system was flashy and fast, but describe to me what was good about it lol? I mean I did think it was the best part of XIII, you can check other forums, I didn't like the game, but will give the battle system props. They just didn't upgrade the FFrpg battle system enough, they cut it down, instead of picking the spell or action your party could do you could only pick one characters and instead pick modes for others. (I won't even get started on summons UGH). I just want to know in your opinion what you would bring from XIII to XIV, this isn't meant to feel argumentative.

    in 13 you had to think fast, the battle system kept you on your toes, it wasent about always spamming attacks/spells until you had all the endgame gear and even then you could still die quickly if you don't jump into the right paradigm setups. In 14 the battle system is just that, there is little to no thinking to it right now, this I hope changes at the revamp.

    14 needs the "think fast" mentality that 13 had, 14 lacks cohesiveness under the current rules of combat "locked down during animations, stamina gauge." The "Side-Step" mechanic is very under used, all mobs should have avoidable ws's where if hit you take huge damage which means you'll probably die.

    Under the current rules all I see in 8 player behests are healers spamming heals with aoe toggled, I see the same for DD's, its just spamming right now with very little strategy involved. There is crowd control abilities currently in the game that I have yet to see used, there is a way to mark monsters yet I never see it used because everyone is just doing whatever with little to no consequence.

    The combat just isn't elegant, Thats how I currently feel how 14 combat is right now, just one giant spam fest, I just hope the revamp makes the combat into something that is fast and fluid that forces the player to make fast choices rather than doing 1-1-1-2-1-1-1-2 I had enough of that on WoW, lol.

    Yeah I hate the spamming, I just didn't get the "always on your toes aspect of XIII" I honestly felt even with the new battle system it was an easier game than a lot of FFs, that being said, I can see what you want added to FFXIV. I think the problem right now is also the mobs difficulty or game strategy, the reason why dd's spam 1, and mages spam cure is because the mob is easy to zerg down and requires no strategy. Just because this game is "accessible to everyone" doesn't mean you dumb it down for people, I hate being treated like an idiot, and this game treats you like an idiot in my opinions. MMOs have difficult learning curves sometimes, it increases the strength of the community. I seriously hate that people ask questions in shout all the time rather than look it up for themselves, the people they have attracted to this game burn my cheese, so I'm sure if its the people who play, the mobs, or the overall strategy, but something is too easy/ too tedious in this game.

    Yeah I'm always alt tabbed reading these forums and replying while I'm doing Broken water leves at level 48. I'm really bored and the combat system is 11111112 111111112 1111111123
