    You can rent chocobos to go where you want. I am not sure about the other destinations as i havent used them much tho they are fun. Once you get your own you will be able to go anywhere.

    I've been wondering the same thing about chocobo porters, so I don't have the answer to that.

    As for crystals, you can only set the large crystals as your "home" as well as attune yourself to them for Teleport. The smaller crystals can be used to travel between other smaller crystals as well as the large one, but as far as I know, you can't travel from the large crystals.
