    Please adjust the length of protect and shell to 30 minutes :)

    This might be already planned along with the battle adjustments but I would love for protect and shell to last 30 minutes when cast. It makes since to have it at five minutes when the sp system was the way it was when the game launched, but now it its just anniying to cast the spell so often.

    I'm all for increasing the MP cost of the spells, but I feel this would be a nice adjustment :-)

    Yeah, I don't see why it is 5 minutes. What's the point of constant recast?

    No one has posted in this because I don't think people agree with you. I don't. Most of us want the game to be more challenging, casting protect and shell and having it last 30 mins is making this game easier. There's no challenge if later on you do fight something that only lasts 30 mins and you don't have to buff the party again, its where challenge comes in. We don't have this content yet, but in the future if we did, if protect and shell lasted this long it would be too easy to confront end game type mobs, especially with how buffing adds more hate during a battle than a lot of casts, it makes it more strategic...ex) buffs about to wear off, gladiator starts to cover conj who is about to buff so it can negate the damage that would of killed that paper mage lol.

    Personally I would like an increase in the effective time, but not by that much. Maybe up to about 10 minutes, and double the amount of MP it costs if not by more so that its not a spell that you want to use in the middle of combat.

    Agreed, mages already don't have to manage MP, and basically randomly spam spells without a thought in the world, at least they should have to do SOMETHING, and short duration buffs gives them something(even though its very minor) to do. Let's not dumb down the game anymore please.

    As thm i use A LOT of spells: cures, buff, paralyze,slow, poison, dia, bio, scourge+banish for the debuffs, shadowsear, chainspell when i'll exp conjurer too <_< absorsb + initiate if i have time.
    People spamming random spells are just taking their job lightly.

    Ps: i'm speaking of mobs with a proper duration, like NM or even regular grinnding mobs. Leves don't count if you play under 3 stars.

    I have no problem with increasing the timelimit for these spells. The argument raised that it makes this game easier is silly and rediculous; you have many other spells you can be using for that time frame, if anything it increases the difficulty as you have more choices to make when you don't have to automatically recast those buffs.

    However, increasing the timelimit means You Must Remove the Effect of these spells when the Source Player Removes them from His/Her Action Bar.

    Otherwise, it will be abused to the fullest. I also believe this is why there is such a short timer; to prevent people from casting it on themselves and removing them from their bars.

    It only lasts for 5 min because everything in FFXIVs battle system is based off the system then had in alpha when each and every skill gave you a small amount of SP.

    cast protect gain 50 SP
    cast shell gain 50 SP
    cast cure gain 150 SP
    cast blizzard gain 25 sp.
    mobs dies you gain a total of 275 SP.

    SE hasn't updated the mechanics of the battle system other than adding a stamina bar to "hasten" the feel of battle.

    Having to cast shell and protect every 5 min doesn't make the game harder, and having them last 30 min won't make the game easier. Having to actually use your other skills like crowd control or enfeebling, or hate control with your nukes make the game more challenging.

    Right, and it needs to be updated, if not to a set time, have it based off of stats (which would take more work as they are currently re-working stats)... But trying to keep it cast on everyone is just plain annoying. With the mp regen update, MP isn't something that is hard to come by, thus saying that we have to cast this every five minutes to balance out MP isn't 100% correct...

    If anything they should adjust these spells to add that level of buff to the players and add it new buffs that last a shorter amount of time and with different conditions, like channeling type abilities (aka the Barrier spell in the opening of LL's story) and other abilities that generate hate and drain MP...
