All's Well that Ends in the Well Guildhest

So this is kind of a question for people with more experience about how to handle the situation represented in this guildhest. I am new to party based games and my sister said she loved healer roles. Up to level 25 Conjurer I would say I have not been great, but not terrible either. And have enjoyed it mostly. Much more so than the Archer I started with (that I picked entirely based on how adorable the class outfit was on my little lalafell ).

But when I hit this first level 25 Guildhest I was completely useless from the debuffing, especially when I got hit with silence. The second time I came prepared with echo drops and antidotes for myself. But that didn't work either, because they have such a long wait time between use that by the time I could use them again, it was too late.

Also, I can't tell some bufs from debufs I don't think. I saw the thunder icon on other players, so tried esuna but it did nothing?

So yeah, I guess just advice anyone?

Just make sure you have good positioning for the fight and you won't be hit with too many debuffs. Even if you do get silenced it is only for a very short time. This Guildhest is easiest if you have the tank concentrate on the Sylph while the DPS take down the adds he summons.

As to what to dispel, pretty much anything that is red within a downwards pointing arrow can be dispelled off of your party. Start practicing using Esuna early as there are some nasty debuffs in the higher level dungeons.

Thanks, that partly makes sense. Though could you specify what is the best way to position yourself? I try to stay back from monsters, but in line of site of the tank at all times, though it doesn't always seem to work because it seems as Healer I am prone to get attacked as much as the tank sometimes. Regarding the strategy of managing the sylph, that seems like a coordination issue between DPS and tank, but most of the time tanks just dive in without talking first...

Here's a video of someone running that Guildhest from a CNJ perspective.

As far as debuffs go, they should always appear to the left of your buffs (so, typically, to the left of Protect).

As far as pulling hate at the start, remember that overhealing does generate hate. Both tank classes have different ways of mitigation, but it's generally not a good idea to start firing off heals as soon as the tank starts taking damage. Once a tank has established threat, it should be pretty secure from a healing perspective.

Of course, you could just be running into a situation where your tank isn't geared properly or isn't using his abilities correctly.

Thank you very much. That video does help me I think. Also I had no idea about overheal causing hate. And knowing that I can use left most and Protect as my debuf marker should help too. I will have to try this fight a few more times till I think I have it right. Hopefully with people who don't mind if I am not very good.

You'll learn quickly what the debuffs do, the red and white symbol with three dots is silence is very important to get off yourself with echo drops. Poison often hits exceptionally hard in this game so I find timing my esuna so that I cure then hit Esuna right as the global cooldown comes up flows very smoothly and leaves them in a better place than if I just acknowledged the poison and used Esuna.

... Does that make sense? Basically I see poison, then cast cure so that it covers the damage tick, and then esuna before another tick goes off.

If mana's the issue you can also delay using esuna on non-lifethreatening debuffs, sure silence and pacification suck, but they won't get you killed like a poison (or other damage over time) or paralyze can (since paralyze can stop you from running out of things)
